Benny Andersson & Bjorn Ulvesus' long awaited english translation of their epic musical KRISTINA will recieve it's UK premier at the Royal Albert Hall on Wednesday 14 April 2010 to promote the release of the double CD recording made at 2 concerts last September at New York's Carnegie Hall.
Kevin Odekirk has confirmed that he will be reprising his role of Robert at the concert.
Think the announcement is imminent, but still confirming who will perform as one lead may/may not be available. Sounds as if most of the main characters have signed up. Will let you know when I know more.
Check out www.kristinathemusical.com, icethesite.com or www.monomusic.se for more details when tickets are released. icethesite seem to have the most immediate information provided to them and have been updating/teasing fans through twitter.
I am distraught - I have a previous commitment on the evening of 14th April that I probably can't get out of. I can't believe I'm most likely going to miss this
I hope they schedule another performance (unlikely given the significance of the date in the context of the story of Kristina). And at least it's not too long until the Carnegie Hall CD comes out. But still, me = sad.
I didn't realise there was a Swedish language theatre in Helsinki as well - I only knew about the Abo Svenska. Wonder if they'll use the Wagner physical production?
Kristina's not actually played outside of a Swedish context aside from Carnegie Hall, has it? I mean, it's not been performed in any languages other than Swedish and now English? I know Pia Douwes sang Du Maste Finnas in a specially written Dutch version at some awards gala years ago but that doesn't count.
