Heading to LA in March- what are the must see shows?
....or theaters to check out.
I'm familiar with a The Geffen, Pantages, and Ahmanson- and that's about it.

Harmony (New Musical) @ Ahmanson Theatre (Downtown) March 4th-April 13th.
Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike (Play) @ Mark Taper Forum (Downtown) Now-March 16th.

Hope this helped.

That's a good start. All of those are worth checking out. I'd add the other two Center Theater Group theaters as well, the Mark Taper Forum and the Kirk Douglas. I would also add the Pasadena Playhouse, the Odyssey Theater Ensemble which puts on some great shows and see what's playing at the La Mirada Theater, 20 miles south of L.A. as well. If you are in Orange County, check out South Coast Rep. Check what Goldstar is selling as well. Some small theaters may have something interesting going on.

These are all good resources for theatre:

In case you're interested in other cultural activities:

Tchaikovskyfest will be in full swing at Walt Disney Concert Hall in downtown. LA Phil is one of the greatest orchestras in the country and seeing Gustavo Dudamel conduct is a treat:

LA Opera (also downtown and in the same Music Center complex as the Ahmanson and Mark Taper Forum) has a new production of Lucia di Lammermoor and what I hear is a very strong Billy Bud (if you're into Britten and lots of shirtless men at sea):

And the best museums in LA are LACMA (MidWilshire/Miracle Mile/Beverly Hills adjacent), MOCA (downtown), The Getty (West Side):

What about the smaller theaters?
Anyone have any favorites?
