My school might do Les Mis this year (middle school). We have to sing a song from the show (they teach it to us). What part should I go for? My range is from the D below middle C to the E two octaves above middle C. I'm 5' and here are my sound clips. Eponine has been one of my dream roles since I was 10 but I think I might be better for Cosette. HELP!
Bernie's Submission-better for Eponine or Cosette?

I don't know anything about singing though. (And think about how awesome it'll be to sing OMO! - as long as you don't botch it!)

I'm supposed to be doing a paper right now, so I haven't listened to you clips yet (I will!)
Heres my 2 cents: Its actually better that you can't decide, then you'll be less likely to be disappointed if you don't get the one you want. With Eponine (I'm assuming) that the majority of girls trying out are gonna want that role. Also its my personal favorite. But with Cosette (who is often labeled as a one dimentional character, cause she kinda is!) You can have the chance to show what an interesting and unique character she can be! She can have a lot of potential to be beefed up and made into a better character. When I saw the show in London that Cosette put a lot of humor into the character which I honestly didn't think was possible. ok I'm done ranting.
Hope thats a little help.

Regarding the clips, I think that your voice is lovely, but i think that Cosette would be a better role for you. As I was listening to 'Once Upon a Dream' i noticed that you were straining your voice a bit on the higher notes to get more of a belt out. That's just my two cents though. great job and break a leg!
