‘Lucky Guy’ is Cowboy Camp: Stage Reviews
I saw the show Tuesday night. I agree with those who say the book is lacking or just plain silly, and even those who say the score is redundant. And no the acting isn't great. (Sitting in the front row, I wanted to grab Mr. Jordan and say, "for God's sake look at another actor when you're speaking to him.") But this show is wonderful fluff, and anyone who sees it and doesn't have a ball must really lack a sense of fun. Sometimes silly is just what the doctor ordered.
And let's not ignore the costumes -- some of William Ivey Long's best work!

Well this looks fun too, but don't go to the show expecting to see THAT costume !
The actual Times review for this production is heavily mixed, but leaning towards positive, with good notes for Leslie Jordan and Varla Jean Merman and nothing good to say about the book.

My name wasn't, isn't, and will never be Scott.
Saw the show last night and it is total camp but it's also a fun two and a half hours. Loved the costumes - especially the Hawaiian ones for the Buckaroos. Those were just hysterical with the artfully placed flora.
I had a good time and felt like I was able to forget the outside world for awhile and I would definitely recommend it.
