"It tells the story of a gay couple who--when one man's son from a previous liaison brings home his fiancée--masquerade as husband and wife for their prospective in-laws. The film is saved from becoming an exercise in silliness by the heartfelt characterizations of the gay nightclub owners."
I would bet to say BIRDCAGE is based on this? Did I win the million dollars? Please say yes.......I need money

yes. La Cage Aux Folles = Birdcage. If only that was worth a million dollars.
When is La Cage set to open?

you're kidding about kelsey grammer, right? or did i miss something big?
i've heard rumors of Gary Beach, Doug Sills, and Nancy Opel. Also heard a Hunter Foster rumor but I doubt that.

Posted: 7/14/04 at 4:07amThe original French film of La Cage became Birdcage by taking the original script and simply adding a few American references. The musical does a very strange turn in the second act (a scene added, I gather, so there would be a production number), but it's still more or less faithful to the original.
