And another great show bites the dust because it didn't have huge celeb stars and tourist appeal.

Such an amazing show. I guess this kills all chances for a New Broadway Cast Recording. So glad I saw it twice with Davis in it.

Supposedly, it is THE WOMAN IN WHITE. Another piece of Webber dreck. I'd much rather LA CAGE stay there.

Are you joking, FOAnatic? This show was built for tourist appeal- a Jerry Herman score, lots of dancing, and a relatively light plot. If it didn't succeed, maybe it's because the production (outside of that dancing) wasn't all that great.

poor lacagauxfolles2 (sic).....it's hard for any fan of a show to see the show close, and I haven't seen this poster respond to this news yet.

i know i'm gonan get bitched at BUT the part they showed on the tonys was not that great. yeah the dancing was awesome but it didnt make me wanna run and get tickets, PERSONALLY i think if they did more of the number as whole and not just the dance break it would have come off better

Riedel predicted this would happen last Friday. Love him or hate him, his sources are generally accurate.

No I'm not Plum. You ask anyone who's not heavily involved in theatre who Jerry Herman is and they'll stare at you with a blank look on their face. The PR for the show was beyond awful. The show itself might be a tourist attraction, but without good advertising, tourists won't have a reason to go.

Thank you for clarifying your point, FOAnatic. Saying a show has no tourist appeal and saying it wasn't properly advertised is two different things. And I wasn't holding up the Herman score for his anme appeal- I was just pointing out that his sound is easily palatable.
