re: LaCageFans: MARTIN SHORT: FAME BECOMES ME Review

Dear JerseyScoundrel, the show IS comedy based...

The joke is that his life is so blessed he created a fake back- story as the basis of the show.

He's made it clear in the press about this. He's shocked that people are taking it seriously as a true bio of his life. The title itself, should indicate the intent.

Probably something they need to fix (in marketing or the show), if audience members are still confused about this fact.

There's still time...

If you had known that the show is a parody of 'life story' shows going in, would you have enjoyed the show more or less? I'm curious for your response to that. re: LaCageFans: MARTIN SHORT: FAME BECOMES ME Review

re: LaCageFans: MARTIN SHORT: FAME BECOMES ME Review

People just need to get a brain and some good sense. The reason why most people do like like certain shows is because the dont take them for how they are and meant to be. They try to turn Martin Short into Phantom of the opera or Les Mis. Unfortunately it seeems critics do to and therefore ruin a perfectly good show. Just because someone may not like the show, it doesnt make it bad.

By the way.....Martin did come out after a loooong time at the show I was at and he did sign and took pics. See look over there I have proof.

"The extremely unfortunate problem is this show does not know exactly what it is. Are we supposed to take it seriously? Is this a tale of Short’s life? A comedy sketch of his famous characters? Or a chance for rising Broadway talent to show up their star?"

Totally agree with that assessment! This was my point when I reviewed the show after seeing it in SF. There was no core "reason" for the show...and this doesn't mean someone needs to "get a brain and some good sense" to enjoy it more. The show lacked a common thread and it made it dis-jointed. There was also a terrible amount of juvenile humor...and there is no need to "get a brain and some good sense" to enjoy a song about big, big titties or listen to yet another corny joke about Hollywood types.

To me, the show needs to make a little more sense. The tourist were simply just laughing and applauding to the jokes and Martin Short's sense of humor.
