Yes. They are both excellent, but I hated Lakisha's "Diamond" song this week. It was pretty bad. The two that stuck out the most in my mind were Melinda and Jordin. And who else wants to know who that crying girl was, becuz I sure do!

I agree that Lakisha's And I Am Telling You was a little lacking in terms of passion, but I think she has been far more passionate in some of her other performances, and her voice is interesting...it doesn't, in my opinion, sound much like the regular soul diva voice, and I like it. She would definitely be a better Effie than Melinda, whose whole persona is completely wrong for the character, and who, quite frankly, does the same performance every week. They're all beautiful, but they kind of blend together in my head. I do think Lakisha would have to work on her posture and such in order to be successful in a musical-she sometimes seems to be almost looking down with half-shut eyes, and that's not good.

I thought that "Diamond Are Foreer" reminded me of "One Night Only."

Ok so I finally got to see her sing "And I Am Telling You" and I must echo the sentiments of some others that it was lacking. I could've seen the same thing on Apollo. She went for the loud, hard hitting notes b/c she had to in order to stay on idol, which I can't fault her for. But it was lacking in the emotion behind it. At least when Holliday still, continually, never-endingly sings it, she really wants to stay (hence the still, continually, never ending). Does she have a nice voice? Yea, but I've heard it before and heard better. But then again, if compared to most of the supposed "top 10" on that show now, she could be called the second musical coming, b/c the majority of those singers make my ears cry.

Every1 is saying Lakisha should be Effie becuz she sang "And I Am Telling You" on Idol. Personally, JHud will always be the 1 Effie in my eyes. C'mon ppl! JHUD ROX!!

"I'm probably in the minority on this, but I thought Lakisha's "And I Am Telling You" was average at best. There was no real passion or emotion or fire in it -- she just sang the notes, something that I've heard literally over a hundred singers do in the past 25+ years. She just didn't impress me much at all and I've personally heard several dozen singers do the song a LOT better.

She also doesn't seem to have much personality which makes me wonder if she has any acting chops at all."


100 percent agree. it was wack, and i dont understand the whole kiss-ass obsession with her. I thought Mandisa was better than her and I didnt even think she was that hot.

It reminded me of "one Night Only" as well. I don't know. Maybe the way she sang it. I really want her to do "Changing" cuz I know 4 a fact she would do a great job. And I want Melinda to do "One Night Only". But that's just me.
