Larry O Key Change?

Posted: 2/19/08 at 8:17pmOkay, I've watched The Battery's Down like many of you have, and I know that many people find the line "To Larry O key change?" But no matter how much I search, I don't understand this line. Help?

It's making fun of Larry O'Keefe who composed Legally Blonde.

haaaaaaahah
i'm pretty sure it's in reference to LAWRENCE O'KEEFE (Larry O'Keefe), composer/lyricist of Bat Boy, Legally Blonde. BUT as he says this line in the song, as they celebrate a whole slew of people/shows that are important to them, the song modulates again, so the word that would be "o'keefe" becomes an incredulous "o'- key change!???"
hope that solves it

Posted: 2/19/08 at 8:22pmIs there a reason they talk about changing? I was wondering if it had to do with Laura Bell Bundy's alternate note for the end of So Much Better that supposedly he rejected?

Posted: 2/19/08 at 8:31pmI thought it was a reference to the fact that so many of his songs include key changes?

Posted: 2/19/08 at 10:11pmIt's definitely a reference to how often he chooses to modulate keys within songs. Not referring to Bundy's note- it was already referred to once in the song and only Cheyenne Jackson gets a shout-out number deux. Listen to the songs on the Legally Blonde cast recording (I am unfamiliar with the rest of O'Keefe's work), specifically So Much Better and probably Legally Blonde Remix and note how many times the key changes in each song. Probably every song has at least one.

That sounds kinda funny and random -- what is this "Battery's Down" thing and where can I see/hear it? :)
