I'm currently listening to the cast recording to The Last Five years. How much dialogue is there in the show? I regret not catching it when it was at Canstage. Does the recording encompass the show well?
I heard somewhere that the cast recording is all of the show except for a couple of phone calls that take place.

Yup, so technically there isn't any dialogue.
But yeah, there are a few phone calls scattered throughout that add to the story. Like in one it's Jamie calling his agent, etc. They don't tell you anything you didn't already know they just develop it a little.

Bluewizard, it IS too bad you didn't catch the Canstage production. I saw it and enjoyed it more than when I saw the show in NYC. I love Norbert but Tyley Ross was incredible.

The recording captures the leads wonderfully; it misses the spoken segments (phone calls, primarily, fleshing out the plot a bit) and the story excerpt that Jamie reads (it's printed in the booklet); that's really about it.
Any fan of the show should also pick up Lauren Kennedy's album "Songs of Jason Robert Brown," which features a fleshed out "When You Come Home to Me," the solo version of "Goodbye Until Tomorrow," and Lauren's wonderful rendition of "I Can Do Better Than That." Much as I loved the show Off-Broadway, I like Lauren's Cathy better than Sherie's.

I just dug ocr out the other day and fell in love with it over again. Isn't Sherie's first song one of the saddest of all time?
I loved the show and the above posters answered your questions I loved Norbert in it and I finally saw a play where I actually loved Sherie Rene Scott. Saw the show here in NYC, i wish it did better.

I'm angry because I can't find the CD in any music stores around me, and my lack of credit card prevents me from ordering it online. Its definately at the top of my list of OCRs to buy
