Last Minute 2017 Tony Predictions

Please don't get upset by who I think will win this or that. It's just MY own opinion. If you disagree with any, you can say why and who YOU think should win.

Best Musical - Dear Evan Hansen OR Come From Away (Both of these musicals are my ALL TIME FAVORITES! I think DEH will win, but Come From Away has a chance of pulling an Avenue Q.)

Best Play - Sweat (I like this play better than Oslo-which has won Best Musical for Drama Desk, Drama League, and Outer Critics' Circle- and it also won the Pulitzer Prize. It's one of my favorite plays of the 2016-17 Broadway season. But based on awards and reviews, Oslo might have a bigger chance of winning.)

Best Revival of a Musical - Falsettos (I have become a HUGE fan of this show ever since I saw the revival. Predictions for wins have been mixed as I've seen. Hello, Dolly! has gotten great reviews and Miss Saigon, not so great but a lot of people love it. So, IDK who will win. )

Best Revival of a Musical - Jitney (I chose Jitney based on reviews from Did He Like It?)

Best Leading Actor in a Musical - Ben Platt, "Dear Evan Hansen" (OBVIOUSLY! He's definitely A LOCK.)

Best Leading Actor in a Play - Kevin Kline, "Present Laughter" (I really love Kevin! He's my most favorite & my top choice in this category.)

Best Leading Actress in a Musical - Bette Midler, "Hello, Dolly!" (This one was VERYYYYYYYY hard for me to choose one. They all should win! But from reviews and MANY people, I think Bette Midler will win. She's also DEFINITELY A LOCK.)

Best Leading Actress in a Play - Sally Field, "The Glass Menagerie" OR Cate Blanchett, "The Present" (I just CANNOT choose between these two! Even though Glass Menagerie was a flop (which I don't think it should've been because it was my #1 favorite play of the 2016-17 Broadway season), Sally Field was REALLY good (in my opinion) in this play. But Cate, she was also REALLY good in my opinion too!)

Best Featured Actor in a Musical - Mike Faist, "Dear Evan Hansen" (This one was also VERYYY hard to choose. But I chose Mike Faist. He is a fantastic actor & singer!)

Best Featured Actor in a Play - Danny DeVito, "Arthur Miller's The Price" OR Nathan Lane, "The Front Page" (These two were also VERYYY HARD to choose between (obviously). These two, in my opinion, are wonderful actors!)

Best Featured Actress in a Musical - Rachel Bay Jones, "Dear Evan Hansen" (I am a HUGE RBJ fan! This one was kinda hard to choose, but as soon as I saw Rachel in this category, she became a lock for me!)

Best Featured Actress in a Play - Jayne Houdyshell, "A Doll's House, Part 2" (She is a spectacular actress! I DEFINITELY think she should win!)

Best Book - Steven Levenson, "Dear Evan Hansen" OR Irene Sankoff and David Hein, "Come From Away (I really love the messages in these two shows. These shows both inspire very much and relate to reality.)

Best Score - Benj Pasek + Justin Paul, "Dear Evan Hansen" OR Irene Sankoff and David Hein, "Come From Away" (Both of the scores are very catchy, amazing, and genius! Dear Evan Hansen might win because it has more well-known songs than CFA. But CFA could pull an Avenue Q in this category too!)

Best Set of a Musical - Mimi Lien, "Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812" (DEFINITELY A LOCK! The set is nothing like I've (or probably anyone) has seen before! She put ALL of her blood, sweat, and tears (BTS REFERENCE) into transforming this theatre into a Russian Supper Club and I can tell it was NOT easy.)

Best Set of a Play - Nigel Hook, "The Play That Goes Wrong" (Out of all the sets in this category, the set of The Play That Goes Wrong interests me the most. I LOVE IT! And plus, this is their ONLY nomination! I think it deserved more! IT NEEDS MORE LOVE YOU GUYS!)

Best Costumes of a Musical - Linda Cho, "Anastasia" OR Catherine Zuber, "War Paint" (It was VERYY hard to choose between these two! I really love the costumes from both of these shows!)

Best Costumes of a Play - David Zinn, "A Doll's House, Part 2" OR Jane Greenwood, "Lillian Hellman's The Little Foxes" (These two were also VERYYY hard to choose between! I like the costumes for A Doll's House, Part 2 more, but I also like the costumes for TLF too!)

Best Lighting of a Musical - Bradley King, "Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812" OR Japhy Weideman, "Dear Evan Hansen" (I think Great Comet deserves this award more! They use A LOT of lighting in the Prologue and beyond. The lighting in DEH also interests me but not as much as Great Comet does.)

Best Lighting of a Play - Christopher Akerlind, "Indecent" (I just really like the lighting of this play! The lighting in the other plays don't interest me as much.)

Best Direction of a Musical - Michael Greif, "Dear Evan Hansen" OR Rachel Chavkin, "Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812" (Michael Greif is one of the BEST directions known on Broadway. But Rachel has to manage to direct THAT MANY people and dancers. That's A LOT of hard work you guys! I think both should win though!)

Best Direction of a Play - Sam Gold, "A Doll's House, Part 2" (I think Sam is an AMAZING director! I like him more than the others, but I think the others are amazing too!)

Best Choreography - Denis Jones, "Holiday Inn" (THIS SHOW DESERVES THE TONY! Im in love with the choreography and plus, THIS IS THEIR ONLY NOMINATION! It didn't get a lot of love because this is based off a classic with classics and most of this generation thinks classics are stupid, which is stupid.)

Best Orchestrations - Dave Malloy, "Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812" OR Alex Lacamoire, "Dear Evan Hansen" (I personally think Dave Malloy should win this award! But I think Alex Lacamoire should too! They're both AMAZING people and they put all their hard work into making their Broadway run possible!)

Welp, that's it! Let's see how many of my predictions are right! Last Minute 2017 Tony Predictions
