Last Minute/Discount Tickets for Popular Shows

Hello BWW! I'm going to be spending the night in New York tomorrow, and plan on seeing a broadway show while there. I can do either a matinee or an evening show. I'm on a student budget and really can't spend more than about $80. Unfortunately my show preferences don't necessarily match my budget. The shows I hoped to snag tickets for are: Moulin Rouge, Hadestown, Jagged Little Pill, Oklahoma, or Slave Play. I still have pending lottery entries for the last 3, but I won't find out about those until tomorrow. What is my best course of action to maybe see one of these shows?

What are my chances of JLP or Oklahoma being on TKTS?

I'll be getting to the city in midmorning, would any rush tickets be left? Which show will have the least crowds for rush?

Is there any hope in waiting at a theatre for cancellations or Standing Room tickets? Which shows would be easiest?

Is waiting until right before the show for stubhub prices to drop a good idea? Where do you suggest printing the tickets if I buy?

I hope I don't sound naive or deluded about the ease of getting these tickets, but I'm determined to try absolutely every avenue I possibly can. What is my best/cheapest course of action? Thank you so much for reading.

I think very last minute is your best bet.

Most lotteries will email results by 9AM. If it's a bust

Check JLP for rush once you arrive Sat. It won't hurt. It also wouldn't hurt to check if Ain't Too Proud is still offering student rush. If JLP is bust

Check in box office to see if it's sold out or close/line up for Sat mat OK! SRO. Hadestown & MR sell SRO when box office opens so consider those out. Though it's closing weekend I read CITS has 28 SRO spots which is decent amount/probability. They don't offer rush.

At the same time check Hadestown & Moulin Rouge on StubHub and monitor as prices. Prices typically get slashed within the hour up to show time. Hadestown stick to instant mobile delivery so you don't have to print but if for some reason you need to print there's a Staples around the corner from Kerr theater at 48th & 8th Ave.

If it's a bust jump in line for Hadestown SRO evening show. They start selling 5PM so 3hr+ prior would set you up well but they're are some crazy fans there and box office isn't consistent with QTY of SRO they sell (typically between 8-14). I waited for SRO but missed out by just 3 people in front of me.


If all else fail go TKTS booth and grab whatever is cheap.

Oklahoma is extremely well sold through out their closing weekend.
