Last row of the Golden Theatre (aka damn Telecharge)

Damn Telecharge! I ordered 6 tickets to Avenue Q, and the "best" seats they gave me were the last row of the mezzanine. After buying them, I played around with the system a bit and found that the "next" set of best tickets were in row E -- three rows closer!
Anyway, how is the view from the last row of the Golden Theatre? I've heard it's good, but I'm feeling spiffed right now and need reassurance.

Posted: 2/1/05 at 2:29pmI sat up there for John last performance and the tickets are not bad at all. Its a small theatre so you can see everything! (Even facial expressions)

Posted: 2/1/05 at 2:32pmI was in the orchestra for "Q", but I sat in the last row for "The Goat", and saw everything just fine.

I'm just uber-peeved that Telecharge didn't really give me the "best available seats." Grrrrrr
No possibility of free exchanges, eh?

Posted: 2/1/05 at 2:33pmtelecharge is terrible that way. They told me a show was sold out the other day. My friend checked a few minutes later and there were seats in the orch row E!!

Posted: 2/1/05 at 2:37pmSame with me. When I ordered my tickets for "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" 3 weeks ago, they said the best available was Row C in the mezzanine. I didn't take them, and went on the website ten minutes later, where I found tickets in Orchestra row K, which I happily purchased.

Posted: 2/1/05 at 2:39pmIt could be that someone else was looking for tickets at the same time.

Posted: 2/1/05 at 2:50pmMy two experiences of ordering tickets through Ticketmaster went very well. It happened with tickets to Hairspray. Just an hour after purchasing my tickets online for row H of the mezzanine, row A became available. I called and spoke with an operator at Ticketmaster about this. He canceled that order and told me to go back online and order the correct ones. I then ended up ordering tickets for the wrong night (meaning curtain was in an hour and I live in DC). I explained I made a mistake by clicking the wrong date and they called the box office, who then in turn canceled my order. Boy did I feel stupid. When I called them again, I was very nice and explained my mistake. I will say that both operators I spoke to were extremely friendly and accomodating to my situation. I was really surprised they were able to cancel the order.

Posted: 2/1/05 at 2:55pmWith both Telecharge and ticketmaster, it sometimes helps to open another window while your "best available" are on hold, and see what it comes up with next.

Posted: 2/1/05 at 3:01pmThat's a very good idea. I'll have to try that. I usually feel that the best way to get tickets is at the box office, but I realize that's not an option for most people.

WOOHOO!
I called them up, and they actually gave me a ticket exchange. The woman from Customer Service (Diane) was very friendly with an adorable Brooklyn accent; while she was doing a courtesy exchange for me, we chatted about New York and what there is to do in the wintertime, and also how she's going to see Dirty Rotten Scoundrels next week. Wonderful woman!
Now I have Rear Mezz Row E, Seats 127-131 and Row F, Seats 127-131. Thanks to everyone and your empathetic words and advice!

I've heard the seats are great.
I'm in a great situation. I must have very good eyes, because I could see facial expressions clearly from the last row of the Gershwin.
