I think the accent was shocking because the whole character was so good and different. I mean, the contrasts between his characters in ttB and Taboo are astounding, his range is really great.

I am not sure what Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is about, I just know the title, so I don't know if I would've thought to cast him there. I have complete confidence in his ability to be great, though. Where is his Tony? Why is it on someone else's shelf?

Both Broadway.com and Playbill.com have mention of him for CCBB

as well as Erin Dilly, Marc Kudisch and Jan Maxwell


with an opening date of late April 2005

It's not a rumor. They're negotiating the contract right now. Problem is, he's such a hot commodity right now that he's reticent to tie himself to another long-running show unless he's sure it's the right one.

According to the end of the article, there has been no "official" confirmation of any cast members, despite the fact that Broadway.com has posted that three roles in the production appear to be filled. This says only that Mr. Esparza is "in talks." I had also heard that Michael Ball was "talking" with people about playing Potts in NY. I guess we'll just have to wait for the official announcement before we know for sure.

kec, I'd REALLY be surprised if Michael Ball jumped the pond to B'way for this one. Not when there are "it" men in New York ready and willing. Especially if it's Esparza that's connected. And it is. Though it would be cool to get Michael over here every now and then...

Really??? I never actually THOUGHT Michael Ball would come to New York again, but I was hoping. I figured if anything would do it, this would be it. I definately hadn't heard anything about him in "talks" though. I just really want to see him in something. He's so...precious. And the likleyhood of me getting my butt back to London just to see him in a show is quite slim.
