Has anyone seen her as Glinda yet? And if so does she play the part any differently from Kristin? Laura was fab in Hairspray and therefor I cannot understand all the bad-mouthing of her being Glinda-cover! Hmmmm....anyway, my point is; is she any good?
I liked her--the issue is she's just slightly over fine, not great. People think Kristin is GREAT.
I liked Laura BB (I like that) better in Ruthless and Hairspray.
She'll be fine. People need to stop placing all this *Demi-God" status on Chenoweth. She is replacable, everyone is. It won't be the same, it shouldn't be but that doesn't mean it should be deemed as awful right off the bat.
Exactly Al Dente- all the Chenowith fanatics need to be able to "let go".... she is not going to be Glinda forever, hell- she isn't going to be Glinda for very much longer... lol... Learn to accept other talented people doing roles.
Another voice heard from.... I have seen Wicked twice now. Both times with the leading ladies, the only replacement I saw was when Taye was in for Norbert. If I see it again ( which there is a good chance) I am looking forward to another take on the roles of Elphaba and Galinda, isn't that what live theater is all about?
Barbara :)
I actually liked Laura better than Kristin (except vocally) because she gave the character more of a human edge. The relationship between Glinda and Elphaba is stronger when both characters are humans, rather than when one is a walking cartoon. Updated On: 5/6/04 at 10:00 AM
Catcher, is Laura Bell Bundy the girl Britney Spears understudied in Ruthless when she was a little girl? I tried to look it up in IBDB.com but Ruthless wasn't listed under Laura's credits. Just curious!
Yes.. that's Laura Bell Bundy..

I want to see both. I love Cheno, but I DO think that the "Cheno-hype" overrides the focus of the Glinda-Elphaba relationship and the show suffers for that... because THAT is the whole point of it all.
I've posted my review of Laura Bell a whole lot of times, so here's a shortened version.
Laura Bell is great in the role, I saw it when she had only performed it a few times before, and she seemed pretty comfortable. She had a pretty impressive soprano and a light belt, that brought her down a little bit when she was overpowered by Idina in "What is This Feeling", "One Short Day", etc. She definitely was not as funny as Kristin, but she made the audience laugh, and we thoroughly enjoyed her. She was a pleasure in the role; I wouldn't be upset if she became a permanent replacement.
I'll be seeing her tomorrow so I'll post my review tomorrow. :) I love Kristin but it'll be interesting to see some one else in the role.
I'll be seeing Laura AND Eden on June 27th in the show. I'm a little dissapointed, but I'm still thoroughly excited.

Eden is phenominal! Even an Idina fan like myself wasn't disappointed! You'll love her!
So wait, if i'm seeing wicked tomorrow afternoon, is laura in it or is kristen in it??
Laura
I wish I could see Laura as Glinda. Although I've only heard her sing on the Hairspray CD and 'For Good' from Wicked, I met her once and thought she was SO sweet and nice and friendly. I'm not gonig to base performances on how nice people are, but I'd sure as hell go see one for it.

i couldve sworn i replied to this topic? oh well, ill say it again. i saw laura bell, and thought she did a great job. id never seen it before so i dont have anything to compare it to but, i didnt feel the chemistry lacked or anything like that. laura was just a tiny bit hard to understand when she hit her highest notes, other than that, she rocked. also there was a blooper, but no one even acknowledged it or laughed and laura reacted calmly as she lost her handle on the flower in her hair.

Laura is a fabulous actress. She shouldn't be compared to anyone. She's in a league of her own.
