"The new FX series 'Starved' — co-starring two-time Tony nominee Laura Benanti — has been canceled, Variety reports.

'Starved' and 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' were two new comedies recently premiered by the FX Network. About the cancellation of 'Starved,' FX President John Landgraf told the industry paper, 'The show had a lot of fans, so it was tough to choose [between it and 'Sunny']. Ultimately, we felt that we're just not in a position to spread our resources. We launched our dramas one at a time, and launching two like we did this summer just didn't work out as well.'"

Well...at least she's coming back to Broadway. I hope she has better television success in the future. Somehow, I don't think this was the right project for her.

both are odd shows, but especially "starved"......I never decided if I liked it.

That show made my stomach turn. The subject matter was less than ideal for a sitcom. This really doesn't come as much of a surprise.

I wish Laura and the rest of the cast best of luck, though!

I enjoyed the show. I have an eating disorder, so just from that experience I found the writing sometimes a bit simplistic, but the actors really filled it out in a very compassionate way. Sometimes we have to fumble about for a while to find the "right" or best ways to talk about things.

I thought starved was offensive & gratuitous. I feel bad for Benanti, but surely she can find a better project soon.

I am surprised it made it past the pilot episode. Not only offensive, but gratuitous to a flaw. The police officer making himself vomit on someone was a new low in television history, cable or not.

The subject matter is way too harsh, it is a current issue in America so people are not ready to laugh at it. At least Benanti knows she'll always be well-received on Broadway.

Between Starved and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, I wish FX had kept Starved instead. I actually kind of liked it, but unfortunately wasn't able to catch it as often as I wanted. I can see how it may offend people, but I'm always drawn to dark humor on TV.

It wasn't even that funny to me, dark comedy or not.
