Benanti will play a bisexual folk singer afflicted with anorexia. There will be 3 other female characters, also with eating disorders. It is called "Starved." look on playbill for more details.
eating disorders + sitcom? does not compute.

I was just about to start a post about this... i read it on playbill.com... it's crazy and insane. not a good idea. there are so many young females who are subject to eating disorders.
There is also a thread about this on the off topic board as well. Seems starving oneself to be thin is now comedy.

I just wonder if any of you watch South Park? Or if anyone saw Drop Dead Gorgeous? I sincerely hope that either you all boycott it because of your beliefs or have written some letters in protest of the things they poke fun at...if not...well, the word hypocrite comes to mind.
Please explain your severely crippled logical leap there.

Seriously, how many times is this whole "bisexual/anorexic folk singer" plot going to be done? Enough already!

wow. This role is going to be a HUGE stretch for her......
oops... did I just use sarcasm?
Yes, and I, for one, got it!
Al if u take antibiotics it will clear up!!!
South Park was able to get away with it because it's South Park, and Drop Dead Gorgeous wasn't making fun of aenorexia but beauty pageants and how far one will go for it. even a small town one. Drop dead Gorgeous used it tastefully and South Park used it hilariously. To use it as the base of a sitcom? Nope.
i'm sure every person who has ever struggled with this disease will not find this funny. and anyone involved in this project is a pathetic fool.
EDIT: and your damn right I'm gonna protest this piece of sh!t since my sister suffered from it for years and almost lost her life because of it.

Hold on...Drop Dead Gorgeous TASTEFULLY depicted anorexia??? You mean the blond girl in the wheelchair having her hair brushed as clumps came out with the brush? What part of that is tasteful???
And what's with the sarcasm about Laura Benanti playing an anorexic bisexual folk singer? She's not bisexual nor anorexic and sings rock and musical theatre?
If you feel you need to protest it, protest it, but perhaps you should see what it is before you go making assumptions about what it is...I'm sorry your sister suffered from it, many of us have loved ones who've gone through it...many of us have loved ones who are gay, jewish, black, have had cancer, mental disabilities etc...what is it that makes this social issue immune from humor?
Laura Benanti did suffer from an eating disorder. I thought that was widely known.

She did a few years back but is no longer sick...
therefore, with her obvious experience with the disease, who, better to treat the topic tastefully?
nope. u aint convinced me yet. sorry.

No one's trying to convince anyone of anything, I'm just saying, you have no idea what this is going to be...you've seen a very brief story on Playbill...stop assuming what it's going to be.

I hate the idea of this.

This disgusts me to the highest degree.
I had a slight form of an eating disorder...I just am disgusted when people talk proud about 'being anorexic', 'trying to be anorexic', and now a whole sitcom about it?
Sick. I think that it may really attract more girls to become that way. Some people don't know how things strike a chord in girls.
