I saw South Pacific tonight and Laura Duncan was in for Kelli O'hara as Nellie. She was charming, funny, and quite captivating. I really enjoyed her performance.
That's all.
How long is Kelli contracted to stay with the show? I want to go back to see her. Anyone know?

Posted: 11/21/08 at 5:16amDear Mr. "Wonderwall", I'm glad you actually know how to write nice things about a performance, but I want to dig up some "old bones" with you, young man...about your not-so-nice comments about Allison Case's performance in Mamma Mia(10/11). Allison had food poisoning when you saw her on stage and was in the hospital the next day! It's too bad that you had the misfortune of seeing Allison perform when she was so sick, because she really is an engaging performer. You'll have to go back to the theater and ask for a "do-over" before she rejoins HAIR. That girl really is a gem and I hope someday you get to see her shine!

Mama De...thanks for the info! I had no idea about her food poisoning. I love Mamma Mia! so, I'll be sure to head back over to the Winter Garden Theater before she leaves? When does she leave to start rehearsals for Hair?
And yes...Laura Duncan gave the BCEFA donation speech after the curtain call and I could just tell that she is a doll off stage. Quite witty, too. And B3TA07...Laura Duncan was much more than, "alright." Kelli has nothing to worry about when she's absent because her role is left in good hands. But, I want to go back to see Kelli. It's funny, I actually (sort of) got my tickets through Kelli (through her personal assistant who is a friend of mine) and the ones I got were when she was actually out, oh well.
I just love Kelli, so I can't wait to revisit the show to see her. She's definitely one of the strongest, healthiest singers on Broadway. Florence Birdwell sure did teach her well.

TheatreGal423---did you read that Kelli extended her contract?
I hope so, because I have tix for the end of January.

Posted: 11/21/08 at 2:13pmJustafan2--Kelli told me she extended. She will be there for a while. :) Also, MyWonderwa11, I had NO idea Kelli had an assistant...I've known her a while and never knew she had one.

So, Kelli told you herself she plans on staying longer? How exciting! Do you have any idea of how much longer she plans on staying with the show. I mean...she might as well stay till the end. It's only a few extra months. I just have to see her before she leaves. I know Kelli to have a good attendance record. I just have the worst luck when it comes to stars being out the night I go. It's a curse!
I'll just have to get another single ticket to see her. Shouldn't be too difficult.
I wonder why she was out last night...

Posted: 11/21/08 at 9:44pmDear Mr. "Wonderwall", I have read that HAIR goes into previews in early February, but I am not sure how long Allison is staying with Mamma Mia. I first saw Allison singing in a Musical Theater class at UC Irvine when she was a first year student there and it was evident even then that she had all the makings of a star. She is such a sweetie and everyone who knows her is so proud of her and happy that she is now working with Carolee Carmello on Broadway. It's wonderful when truly nice people like Allison are successful. Please give her another opportunity and you will glady give her your heart! Mama De

Posted: 11/21/08 at 10:01pmI saw SP in July when Kelli was on vacation so I got to see LMD. I was already a fan of hers (from Dirty Rotten Scoundrels days) and I thought she was very good. I did want to see Kelli though so I went back last month and ...... as much as I love Laura Marie, there is a very good reason why Kelli is the star of the show! She was worth going back to see it again and I strongly encourage you to do so.

I saw Laura Duncan too, and she was wonderful. She made me forget I wasn't seeing Kelli o' Hara, but not in a copy cat way.
She was very good- obviously a very talented young woman.

Posted: 11/21/08 at 10:56pmYeah, I think I'm going to drop by the box office tomorrow to buy another single ticket. Doesn't Kelli usually have a good attendance record? Hopefully I can get a ticket for late next month. Surely, Kelli won't have any absences during the holiday.

Posted: 11/27/08 at 5:46pmmywonderwa11- Allison will be doing double duty from Jan-Feb in rehearsals for HAIR and performing in Mamma Mia. Hair opens Feb 13th, so I'd check her out in Mamma Mia before the middle of february.
