Hey Guys! I just recently found the song "Letting you go" by Lauren Kennedy and I am OBSESSED!!! This song was from the original Last Five Years, but was replaced with "Still Hurting." Anyways, I was wondering if anyone knows the lyrics to "Letting you go"...I've searched and can't find it, but I thought maybe someone would know them by memory. I'd really appreciate it! Thanks!
well I have her cd with this song, so I guess I could listen to it and PM the lyrics to you if you wanted.
Where did you find out that it was from L5Y? I'm dying to know what so many songs on that cd (Lauren Kennedy Sings The Songs of Jason Robert Brown) are from - the ones I hadn't heard before that is. I actually like Letting You Go much better than Still Hurting for opening the show and conveying what she's feeling. The other one is a lil too simplistic for me to open up such a deep show and such deep, complex emotions.
Lemme know if you want me to type that out for you.

Krispy,
That's ok, you don't have to do that! I can sit down and do it one day..Thanks though! My friend that was just in B&TB with her here in NC told me that it was from L5Y...I like it too, but Still Hurting is one of my favorites. Let me know what songs you want to know about- I'll do my best!

Sweeping up plaster, mopping the floor
Washing the windows
Cleaning the closets
Closing the door, filling the cracks out in the hall
Scraping the paint off of the wall
Changing the lock, turning the key
Letting you go away from me
Knowing it’s better here in my head
Doing the laundry
Washing the dishes, making the bed
Nothing to fight, nothing to choose
Maybe it’s good learning to lose
Maybe I’ll shine finally free
Letting you go away from me
If I was smart, if I was strong
If I could just say I was wrong
Say it was me, say I could move
Make you believe these things improve
Would I forget all of the cracks
Deep in the ground under our tracks
And if I go then would you see
Or would you go away – would you go away
Facing the facts, watching the clock
Maybe you’ll change just down the block
And if you did where would I be
Letting you go away from me

Oh man, I love that song. I've never heard Lauren sing it, but I love to listen to Philip Quast singing it on his Live at the Donmar CD... mmm.

Lauren is a great talent and a wonderful gal. I did NINE with her at the Paper Mill Playhouse and she played Carla the role oriinated on Broadway by Anita Morris and in the revival by Jane Krakowski. Lauren was brilliant and sexier than her predecessors. I am so happy for her success.
Lauren in Evita?
I can only hope I am in it with her...
