Tarrytown Music Hall Presents:
LEA SALONGA IN CONCERT
Friday, 11/2/2007
8:00 pm EST
Tarrytown Music Hall
Tarrytown, NY
Celebrated Tony-award winning Star of Miss Saigon, Les Miserables, Flower Drum Song as well as the singing voice of Jasmine in Disney's Aladdin ("Whole New World")and in Disney's Mulan ("Reflection"), Lea Salonga's smooth, perfectly modulated singing voice has mesmerized audiences worldwide since that famous day when she walked into the auditions for Miss Saigon as an unknown 17 year old, blew the competition out of the water and instantly became one of mega-producer Cameron Mackintosh's favorite performers. She is also considered by many as the best Eponine in Les Mis ever.
We are incredibly excited to be able to offer our patrons this very rare opportunity to experience Ms. Salonga in a solo concert. She will be accompanied by a group of her favorite handpicked musicans.

There are only a handful Broadway ladies I would see repeatedly...Lea is in my top 5 list. She is vocally a Mary Poppins (practically perfect in every way) and so darned cute!
ENJOY!

Where is Tarrytown? Is it on Long Island?
(Please pardon my ignorance of the NY Metro area.)

Her banter on that thing is painful. I've never seen anyone act like such a bitch to their audience before.

There was an incredibly noticeable improvement with Lea's interaction with the audience at her November 2005 Carnegie Hall concert compared to the other concerts--both live and on video--I've seen her in. She was so relaxed with the audience that night and she actually and genuinely connected with them when she was speaking, not only when she was singing. I think it had a lot to do with the director, Richard Jay Alexander, and the fact that she let her guard down, which I hadn't seen her do in her other concerts.

Know it well. I went to high school in Irvington. As I recall, Music Hall used to be a single-screen movie theatre. I think I remember seeing "Bang the Drum Slowly" there. (Or did I see it in Dobbs Ferry?)
Tarrytown is just up the Hudson Line (Metro North) from Grand Central. Easy to get to, and a lovely ride. My wife says it reminds her of the Rhineland.

Well, it's unfortunate for her that THAT one is the easy DVD to find...

Can't say that I've seen this CD. But I presume the comments are fair. People change. Perhaps, Lea really honed her social rapport and stage skills. She was quite warm, friendly and spunky at the Lenape concert. I've never seen so many Filipino fans come out to support her. I'd say a third of the audience were from her home country.
She talked much about her personal life, new husband, her family, her heritage and even sang 2 songs in her native language, which went over beautifully. She was also a doll to be around backstage. Glad I had the opportunity to see this side of her.
Tarrytown area is a lovely suburb... Rob Evan (J&H) and a few more Broadway actors live in that area. Again, enjoy the concert. The woman has a flawless voice.

Posted: 8/16/07 at 12:13pmFantastic! I just got my tickets! If it's even half as good as the Carnegie Hall concert, then it should be a fabulous night. Lea fans, and admirers of great talent alike, should not let this opprtunity pass. Lea might not be back in New York for a while. I think she is touring in Asia soon.
