I didn't know that Martin Scorsese directed Liza Minnelli in her Broadway show "The Act".

I didn't know that either, and I'm a huge fan of "The Act" ("The Money Tree" is one of my 5 favorite songs.)

Scorsese was on board at the start of what became "The Act" (that's not the original title). He ended up getting booted because the show wasn't working and couldn't be taken to NY that way. Gower Champion took Scorsese's place and reworked things so the show could at least open in NY.
