Bump...I know Kerry Butler sings some songs ("Beacon of Positivity"), but I am listening to "Omigod You Guys," "Serious" and "What You Want" and it doesn't sound like Laura Bell Bundy.

Posted: 7/28/08 at 8:32pmI think there are a few different girls on the demo actually. And yes one of them is Kerry Butler. I don't know who the other 2 or 3 are.

I think Kerry Butler only did maybe 3 songs.
This is definitely not Kerry: youtube.com/watch?v=QSkHrgEnUio
and I just listened to Serious and that isn't Kerry either. And neither is What You Want.
edit: I just listened through a bunch of them and Kerry is singing in Beacon of Positivity, Good Boy, Legally Blonde (reprise), and So Much Better. =D

Posted: 7/29/08 at 12:03amI read somewhere it was Kate Weatherhead, but I can't tell you for a fact it's her.

Butler did ALL of the songs on the original 4-track demo for perspective Producers.
If there's someone else, it must have been an older recording. I just know Butler did the original version of the finalized demo.

Posted: 2/22/09 at 3:12amSorry to bump an old thread, but recently discovered this demo and am very curious for an answer. Most of the songs are clearly Kerry Butler, as she has such a distinct voice. But who sings the other songs (What You Want for instance)? Was that a joke about Lea, because it sure doesn't sound like her. Thanks.

That's so weird. Because Kerry Butler is clearly singing the song that follows, the Legally Blonde Remix. But that does help tons. Thank you!
So now I'm wondering if they had three girls doing the demo or if Weatherhead is also responsible for the earlier songs on the demo.

Posted: 2/23/09 at 1:34amI am going to bump this once more, as I still am unsure whether it's Kerry and Kate on all the tracks, or just some. And since I got such a great response for my Blood Brothers OCD question, I'm hoping someone can tell me who else participated in the demo for Legally Blonde. It's just a bit jarring hearing those songs not sung by Laura Belle Bundy, especially since the lyrics are so different. I actually enjoy Kerry Butler for some of them (So Much Better is a totally different listening experience), but the felinic curiosity is killing me here.

"Completely unrelated question, but still about the LB demo, WTF is Bone Cake??"
It's a cut line from the show. After Kyle takes the cake (shaped like a bone..) from Paulette, he made a comment like "Ooh, bonecake!" Or something like that. It became a big joke backstage/among the fans. I believe it was Paul Canaan and Gaelen Gilliland who put together a "Bonecake remix" of cut lines as an opening night gift, and then later, Andy Karl wrote his own "Bonecake rap" to perform at his last show party. It's sort of become this weird cult thing now.
Re: The LB demo, it depends on which one you're talking about. There are many demos from this show with many different Elles.
