Went to the Sunday PM final Charlotte performance of Legally Blonde. I had heard both really good and really bad reviews of the tour through reading this board and other boards, but here's what I thought:
- Becky was a very good Elle. I don't think she brought the same qualities that Laura Bell did to the character, but I don't think that's a bad thing, either. I believed Becky's interpretation of Elle
- The sets were much better than I had anticipated- and they moved in and out very smoothly.
- I really, really, really, love Natalie Joy Johnson, but after seeing Orfeh in LB on broadway as Paulette, it's hard for me to watch anyone else in that role. But she was great, and really hit the power note in the Ireland reprise.
- Didn't care for the actress playing Vivienne. I thought she was rather boring to watch, and didn't seem to be into playing her character at all.
- Lauren from the MTV show was hilarious as Margot. Why isn't Rhiannon touring anymore- or at least her name isn't in the program.
- Thought DB Bonds vocals as Emmett were a little weak...okay, but not as strong as I thought they needed to be.
Overall, I loved the entire performance as a whole. Went to the stage door after the show and met the entire cast. They were all EXTREMELY nice and willing to sign, talk, pose for pics, and they were exhausted and heading for St Paul MN. Well worth the ticket price- I'd see it again if I had the chance!
