I got there for the later part of the signing, but sadly missed the performances. I hear they did "Ireland" and "So Much Better" (the latter without backing vocals, weirdly enough). Huge turnout! It seemed like a success! :)

Posted: 7/17/07 at 10:36pmI was there. There was a great turnout. Heard they sold over 200 CDs. Orfeh sang "Ireland" and really played to the crowd and Laura Bell did "So Much Better" on her own, but pulled Richard Blake over to sing ot him. It was pretty funny. Jerry Mitchell introduced both the songs and then the seven main cast members along with Jerry, Nell and Larry signed.

Posted: 7/18/07 at 10:44amI was going to tape, but I saw a lot of others with their cameras out, so I just decided to sit back and enjoy the performance. I am sure a video will surface.

Did they enforce the "buy a CD to watch" policy?
I didn't bother going since I got out of work at 5 and would've missed the performances by the time I got there.

Posted: 7/18/07 at 1:15pmI wonder how long Virgin on Times Square is going to stay open. It has gone way downhill in the past 10 years (the last time I was there, it was like a loud tourist toilet) and the Virgin Megastore on North Michigan in Chicago just closed up shop.
#8re: Legally Blonde at Virgin
Posted: 7/18/07 at 1:16pmThe Virgin Megastore in Boston also closed up last year.

Posted: 7/18/07 at 2:05pmLaura and Orfeh's performances are on youtube if anyone is interested. Both sounded good and Laura especially seemed to be having a lot of fun with it. She didn't quite have enough air to hold that last note long enough, but it didn't really matter...plus she probably wasn't warmed up nearly as much as she is during the shows. Kind of wished I had gone, oh well.

Posted: 7/18/07 at 5:00pmThey did enforce that you had to buy a CD. When you went down the signing line, at the beginning of the line, they checked taht you had a wristband which you could only get when you purchased a cd that day.

So they enforced the wristband thing for the autograph line, but not for watching the performance? That's a lot less unfair than I thought it might be.
I brought a Virgin wristband from another event just in case, but it was a different color. Whoops. Luckily I didn't go in the line, so it wasn't an issue. But damn, that would've been embarrassing.

Hee- thanks, I totally just laughed at the mental picture of someone being 'gently escorted out of the building' from the Legally Blonde cd signing, for having the wrong color wristband. :)

Dude, that would have been FUNNY. "I'm sorry, yours is bright orange, not yellow, I think you're going to have to leave and very likely be arrested. Wristband fraud, you know."
That might have been a little bit awesome, actually!

I went to the signing after work but when i got there, I had missed the performances.
Once i was able to find the actual line and realized i supposedly needed a wristband,
I made friends with the girl in front of me and said i was with her and had no problem getting in to the line and get my CD signed. I had purchased my CD from the Sh-k-boom website a couple of weeks ago. Andy Karl was wandering around, i guess waiting for his wife to finish the signing. Jerry Mitchell, Heather Hach and Laurence O ' Keefe were all there as well. No Leslie Kritzer - has she already left the show?
Thanks!

Kritzer, as much as I totally disagree with this, is probably not considered one of the 'main' cast members- from what I understand from those who attended, only the main cast members (plus Larry/Nell and Jerry) were there to sign.

Posted: 7/19/07 at 12:08amYes, it was only the main-billed performers, plus Jerry, Larry, and Nell. Kritzer et al. are considered featured ensemble in terms of billing. Also, the last couple of times I've seen the show, Bundy hasn't held the last note of "So Much Better" completely through. No big. Ce n'est pas necessaire.

Posted: 7/19/07 at 11:25amYou can't actually *see* Orfeh's song on you tube. It's pretty much in the dark with flashbulbs going off every second. The Laura clip is lit better. Orfeh sounds amazing as always. Let's see how long it takes for this thread to get deleted now that I've posted on it. Seems to be happening alot lately.
