I played this role; it's incredibly fun. It's the kind of role that's written to steal the show--it's all about timing. If you do some research and come to rehearsal knowing the opera fragments you're supposed to sing ("Largo al factotum" from "The Marriage of Figaro" and one of the final arias from "Otello") you'll impress everyone.
I ask in all honesty/What would life be?/Without a song and a dance, what are we?/So I say "Thank you for the music/For giving it to me."
