There is an interesting article by Michael Coveney on Les Miserables, the stage production, in FinancialTimes.com from London --

And this is the most interesting part :
'Next year, to mark the 21st anniversary, the BBC will collaborate with Mackintosh on a worldwide broadcast from Hyde Park with “the ultimate cast”. And a film of the musical is now planned. So the bandwagon rolls on, and the audience rises each night to celebrate ideals of freedom, justice, love and revolution...'

Wow, that would be brilliant if it happens. Concert - I vote for Lea to perform Eponine or perhaps Fantine this time. Same goes for the film version.
Just found this today - 10/31/05 - on the planned movie. See link below.

Posted: 10/30/05 at 10:13pmI think Lea is wonderful, but I for one, do not want to see her as Eponine again. We've got her on the 10th anniv concert. I hope someone else takes on the role for the 21st anniv show and the film.

Even though i loved Philip Quast as Javert in the 10 ann. (which was supposedly was acted by the dream cast), I think Terrence Mann should play him, cause, I mean, he did get a Tony nod for his performance. And he was FAN-BLOODY-TASTIC during his last performance.
As for Jean Valjean, i would love to see Colm Wilkinson but I already know he won't do it.

I'm crossing my fingers that it would be Michael Ball who will sing the role of Jean Valjean in the concert with "the ultimate cast"!
He was invited by Cameron Mackintosh to sing the role of Valjean in the special concert of Les Miserables at Windsor Castle for the Queen and Jacques Chirac last year. Also, he was a member of the original cast at the Barbican, where he created the role of Marius. He has recorded "Bring Him Home" - and it sounds like a fervent prayer!
