I really hope Alexander gets nominated, he was the heart and soul of that show. Not sure how the others will fair come Tony time.
I saw Adam Jacobs on the tour and he was Amazing...When I saw him on the 27th though... hopefully the preformance improved and he will get a nod... Daphne's acting the role is great, you can't deny, so if they disregard the not so great singing she could possibly get a nod too...
Emcee, you are not alone. I'm not going to say anything cause this is basically not a revival.
I agree with Allentown.
Aaron, Celia, and Alex of course.
Can the revival be considered for Best Revival, since it was only off of Broadway for what, three years & there isn't any dramatic changes at all. Can a producer of a show decline or deem their production one that doesn't want Tony Awards? Cameron MacIntosh (sp?) clearly put Les Miz back on Broawday to celebrate it's triumpant runs across the world. And he also placed it in a theatre next to his longest running musical on Broadway, The Phantom of the Opera. I wouldn't be surprised if he was to have his production not nominated for a Tony, or if it eligable. However, I think the cast is completely eligable, but since the set has already one it's Tony, can it be nominated?
I'm indifferent about Les Miserables and the Tonys this year. I'd rather have the cast nominated and nothing else from the show. I'm rooting for A Chorus Line for most of the Revival nominations, as well as Company.

RULES AND REGULATIONS
OF
THE AMERICAN THEATRE WING'S TONY AWARDS®
2005-2006
2. Eligibility for Nomination
(a) In order for the Tony Awards Administration Committee to determine that a production is eligible in the various categories for nomination for a Tony Award, [one of the] six requirements must be satisfied:
iv) on or before the "Eligibility Date" of the current season (as defined in paragraph 2(e) herein), and after the Eligibility Date for the prior season;
(e) Definitions. For the purposes of these Rules, the term "official opening" shall mean the performance of the production which the producer has publicly announced as being the official opening; the term "Eligibility Date" shall mean the date which the Tony Awards Management Committee establishes as the cut-off date for eligibility; and the term “Submission Date” shall mean the date that is 14 days prior to the Eligibility Date. The Eligibility Date for the current season shall be at least 32 days prior to the date on which the Awards are to be presented.
(h) Revivals. [...] Regardless of whether a production of a play or musical is eligible for a Best Revival category, the elements of the production shall be eligible in those categories in which said elements do not, in the judgment of the Tony Awards Administration Committee, substantially duplicate any prior presentation of the play or musical, except as prohibited by paragraph 2(l) or permitted by paragraph 2(m) of these Rules; provided, that the play or musical otherwise meets all the requirements set forth herein for Revivals.
The only question is whether it's an official OPENING or just an extension after 3 years. If so, actors can be nominated. However, according to the rules, this production will not be defined as a revival, therefore no nomination for Best Revival.
Well, seems that Les Mis has an opening night, it probably possible that the actors will be nominated, regardless the possibility that the rules may be revived for the next season.
I'm not going to say anything cause this is basically not a revival.
Despite how you (and many others) might feel, the rules state it is.
This reminds me of the "but if she LOOKED old enough..." James Barbour threads and flawed reasoning...
"[...] whether a production of a play or musical is eligible for a Best Revival category, the elements of the production shall be eligible in those categories in which said elements do not [...] substantially duplicate any prior presentation of the play or musical"
Please read be4 you reply...
Yeah, but that says "elements." Doesn't mean it can't be nominated for best musical, just not set or lighting. (And, likely, costumes.)
No, it's the opposite. This rule is under the Best Revival Category (as quoted). If there's duplication of the elements in the piror production, it cannot be considered a Revival as a whole. However, for other awards it can be nominated as it fulfilled all 6 requirements.

I wonder if we should start some sort of campaign for some of the actors.

I'd love to see Alex G, Celia & Aaron be nominated. I'd love it even more any of them won I do not believe in my heart, mind soul that it is to far of a stretch to think one of the three of them will get the nod and/or the Tony itself
I haven't seen the show yet, but based on buzz and reviews, I think the show's only chance at a nomination comes by way of Aaron Lazar in the Featured category, with the outside possibility of Daphne Rubin-Vega picking up a nomination.
To Colle:
I agree that the revival cast in general needs some campaigning.
We want our souvenieurs, programs, and New Cast Recordings, Tonys & an extended engagement!
=)
No one will get a nod, nor does anyone deserve to. This is a lifeless recreation of a mediocre power ballad fest's original production and it doesn't deserve a single nod.
Tell us how you really feel!
