I've been watching the clips, I'm not really a fan yet. Just my opinion, I'd happily let her prove me wrong though.
I was rooting for Emma to be Eppy actually. We'll see where all the pieces land.

"I hope it's someone who can make the character likable because Cosette is usually portrayed as a bland whiny rich girl. And the role is baiscally nothing."
This is why the musical doesn't do it for me. The book is the story of Cosette and the musical completely loses that. There's something very wrong with the characterization if the show's artwork is Cosette and yet all the fans have Eponine screennames. No judgement here, she is the better character in the musical, but as a book fan, it always irked me.
That said, I think Lucy Hale is gorgeous and I'd love to see her in something people won't judge me for watching. (Pretty Little Liars is underestimated!)

I wish they'd give Cosette her lovely solo (which can be heard on the Original London Cast Recording) "I Saw Him Once" back.
And please give her more dimension.

Lucy Hale did an interview for an upcoming DVD - they talked about musicals in it, and she said this at the end, notice the last sentences, I wonder if she is hinting:
>>Having wanted to do a musical, did this satisfy that desire or do you want to do more now?
HALE: I would love to do more. This was definitely a step in the right direction. This was fun and had great songs. I learned a lot, but I’d love to dabble more into singing and musicals, and maybe even Broadway. Who knows? We’ll see.
Do you have any idea what you’d like to do next? Are there types of roles that you’d really like to try?
HALE: For me, I feel like there’s really nothing off limits. Well, I can think of a few things that would be off limits. But, I want to do something unexpected that’s maybe a little darker. At the same time, I’d love to do a really good romantic movie, like The Notebook, where it’s a great love story. I don’t know. Right now, it’s pretty much Pretty Little Liars, 24/7 until December. And then, I have a couple months off and would love to do a film. There are a couple things that hopefully will work out.<<<

I think the reason Judy Kuhn is my favorite Cosette is that she's the one I've seen who was most successful in making Cosette seem like a three-dimensional character. She proved that that was possible, so I do hope the movie can find someone who can make the character interesting.
In terms of Eponine, I don't know much about Lucy Hale but from the posted clips, it looks like she could be good.
