So if Les Mis is a limited run, does that mean it expects to recoup everything in 6months? So it must be a pretty cheap production?
yea right... like it's going to stay open for JUST 6 months...

It's not going to be a limited run. No way.

its not limited...its a ploy to get the public to buy tickets now. If there's demand, they'll supply. They'll run as long as it makes money.
Does anyone know if they will have a cast recording with this cast??

The cast recording thing has been discussed but I'm not sure if it was ever established if there will be one. I sure hope so.
This will be a limited run.
People are overestimating the staying power of this show.
The fall season has some amazing shows...NEW shows.
Les Miz will be a fun revival. But it has a virtually unknown cast to tourists who will probably want to see other things.
Please don't think that Les Miz is returning for a multi-year run.

I'd be so disappointed if it doesn't extend its run, though...
FOAnatic unless its someone big who has been eiather in film or tv then the name won't attract tourists. almost every show on Broadway has an unknown cast to tourists. The fact that this is Les Miserables is what is going to want people to go see it. Even on Broadway.com when they had a fall preview they said about les miz the following. "it is only scheduled to play six months but something tells us...." It is clear that they are going to extend it. The sixth month run sold out in a matter of a couple of days. I think that there is a great chance of it at least extending maybe being another open end run

I still think anything's possible with the run of this production. Though probably if I don't get tickets it will close and if I get tickets it will end up extending with my luck.
I think that anything is possible with this run of LES MIZ. The show is intensely and immensely popular. If the people want tickets, they will suppply them.
I hope- and expect- that they will extend

But what I'm getting at is this : if the producer plans a show to be a limited run, then they'd be stupid to spend as much money on it as they would on an open-ended run.
Les Mis, as I recall, is a big expensive show. So have they toned it down to reduce costs for the "limited" run?
Children, this is the touring production of LES MIS making a 6-month stop in New York City. It's not an entirely new reconceived revival of LES MIS.
No, they havan't toned anything down for this run. From what we know, it will be an exact replica of the show as it was previously seen.
Wanna Be A Foster, the thing is that the only thig they did was use the tour set. That doesn't not mean that the tour is just making a six month run and then its gone. The national tour of Annie is making a stop at the theatre at madison square garden. That doesn't mean they are billing it as a revival or as a new off broadway production. They made it clear that the tour was stopping in nyc end of story. Camron Macentosh sp? has not made it so clear as to weather or not he is going to extend this or keep it as just a sixth month run. Keep in mind, tickets sold out fast because this is a show most people thing should not have closed.
In summary: officially, it's a closed run of six months. However, MANY people on this board are highly cynical about that. ^_^

I am hoping they extend it to at least to the Tony awards, if it is not planned to go past the Tony's(it is close to it). That way the cast can perform at the Tony's, I imagine they would probably do "One Day More" or combine it with "At the End of the Day" like they did last time.

Wanna be a foster - No. This is not a touring production. It's a brand new cast.
it's a totally new cast.
and I sort of doubt about a cast recording. I mean, how many are out already? 4 or 5? maybe more? OLC, OBC, Complete Symophic, 10th. any more?
The new cast is only attractive to hard-core theatre fans.
LES MIS, MISS SAIGON, and CATS had no stars either. Tourists didn't care - the shows were bigger than anyone in them, and they ran for years on end with virtually no stars. LES MIS will run.
The only thing this production has in common with the (now-closed) tour are a handful of cast members and parts of the set and props.
But how big of a deal is it to make a recording? If they could make money off of it...
Well Mackintosh loves money, and they would definitely afford to make it, but do we need a 98th recording of this show?

Will the tour start up again once the NYC show closes, or is the tour done for good?
There are rumors of a non-Equity tour starting once Broadway is closed (and then they can use the set).
