No judgment here- for me, Les Mis and Wicked are "those" shows :)

Hm, that's interesting. In all the previous versions, "in the darkness" comes earlier in the song: "In the rain the pavement shines like silver/All the lights are misty in the river/ In the darkness the trees are full of starlight/ And all I see is him and me forever and forever." I checked Nikki's performance again, and that lyric is still intact, so it seems odd that there would be a lyric change that would repeat "in the darkness". But I can't imagine someone wouldn't have corrected her by now. Odd.

Melissa O'Neill, who performed as Eponine in Toronto, sang the correct lyrics to On My Own (Without him, the world around me changes), and sang the whole song beautifully (my favourite rendition of those that I have heard so far). So if it has been formally changed by the production, it was after it finished its run in Toronto.

It seems such a shame that people are not enjoying the Eponine, Javert, and in one case, Marius performances on Broadway - the performances of those characters in Toronto were all stellar, along with Valjean.

Les Mis is also the reason I first fell in love with musicals, so I have a soft spot for this show. But everything I'm hearing is so disappointing that I'm considering not going.

I can't believe they would change the line "Without him" because it has a parallel with the line starting "Without me."
