Yes. It got postponed probably because MTI was making a killing of the regional rights. I believe NETworks will be putting it out in the fall of 2010.
"If this is going to be a Christian nation that doesn't help the poor, either we have to pretend that Jesus was just as selfish as we are, or we've got to acknowledge that He commanded us to love the poor and serve the needy without condition and then admit that we just don't want to do it." -Stephen Colbert
Any Idea if it will be Equity and go to big cities like the Current Tour of Rent or be non and do only one night in small cities like the last tour of rent
Any idea if it will be Equity and go to big cities like the current tour of Rent, or be non-Equity and do only one night in small cities like the last tour of Rent?
How do these regional theatres handle your holier than thou barricades? Just because a company puts out non-union tours doesn't mean that their sets and shows won't look good. They'll probably try something new. And who knows, instead of the standard, re-hashed version of that show that's been out for 20+ years, they might do something new and different.
This must be from the production that hit West Point, Wolftrap, Atlanta last summer using Hugo drawings and paintings and the rear wall projections.
?I'm delighted that 22 years after LES MIZ originally opened in London there is still a huge audience to see this marvelous show,? said producer Cameron Mackintosh. ?Over the years I have seen many hugely successful but visually different productions, so it has been exciting to develop this new design which draws inspiration not only from John Napier's marvelous original but also the brilliant drawings and paintings of Victor Hugo himself. Like the hugely successful new production of MISS SAIGON, the next LES MIZ will still be a spectacular mix of dazzling images and epic staging, driving one of the greatest musical stories ever told."
p.s. The projections were actually pretty cool, except, I hear, at outdoor matinee performances.
On the road: I wasn't talking about regional theaters. NETworks strives to faithfully recreate shows on tour. I've seen their Hairspray and it uses the same choreography and sets. I believe their Drowsy is also a facsimile of the Broadway version. The barricades are a memorable part of Les Mis, so I would be surprised if NETworks didn't want to recreate that.
