Les Miz at Wolftrap

Does any one know about this production? I just saw a commercial on television for it. Cast? Thanks.

I saw an ad for it the other day on the metro and that was the first I'd heard about it. Les Miz isn't on tour anymore so this must be a new mounting of the show. I'll see if I can find some info on it.

Not to threadjack or anything...but Wolftrap was where my Maryland high school had their graduation ceremony in 1974. I'm sure that Les Mis would be a lot more interesting! Beautiful place!

I think I read that it is a part of the mini tour that goes on to Atlanta and Kansas City, it might be the same cast:

Rob Evan will play also play Valjean at Atlanta, and Kansas. He also will be part of several upcoming concerts,(one with Hugh Panero & Christiane Noll). http://www.rob-evan.com. He played the role quite well back in the late 90's both on Broadway and a touring production.

That PBOL photo of Rob as Valjean is at least 12 years old. Also, PBOL lists Rob as recently being part of the Bd'w LM revival...not true. "For the Atlanta staging, Robert Evan will portray Jean Valjean with Robert Hunt as Javert; both actors appeared in the recent Broadway revival of Les Misérables".

I'm in it and sad to say, California is not on the schedule. However, We are going into tech next week at the Eisenhower hall in West Point NY and there will be two previews open to the public next Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are available at IKEHALL.COM
Although I am heavily biased, this is going to be a great show!

I have to say that I am not a big fan of Wolftrap and its outdoor ampitheatre. We saw Chicago there in the ever-possible oppressive humidity and heat and the threat of storms. They have hard plastic seats that are arranged in incredibly long rows ( at least ours was) so that If you are near an end, you are getting up quite a bit to let others pass. Les Miz is my favorite musical, but will pass because you just never know what the weather will bring.

Yup we head up to West point tomorrow. The scenery is going to be pretty cool. We are playing massive theaters-Wolftrap, KC starlite and the FOx in atlanta, so we need a huge stage to tech the show on. There is no turn table, but we have a huge set. Also, we are using projections of various Victor Hugo paintings (yup he was a painter too) on an upstage cyc to indicate time and place. We also are bringing our own proscenium which has functional doors, balconies, and even a sewer. It's a co prodcution with Cameron Mackintosh, so a lot of Les Mis Alums are part of the production team. However, this is not a recreation of the Broadway staging. That's about it. I have to hit the sack, I still haven't started to pack yet!

My friends all tried out for the ensemble =). I was going to come try out, but I was doing another show. I think one or two of them made it in, because i keep on getting facebook invites. It should be good. The ad listed a bunch of "theatre celebrities" (which I knew none of...). It's a safe bet.

MYSHIK- that must have been for the Local Ensemble, right? In each of the cities we are travelling to, we are picking up roughly 18 local Teens who are serving as extras and ensemble members for 2 or 3 of the big crowd scenes. Again, I believe it is to round out the cast, since the venues we are playing are gigantic.

I hate wolftrap for the same reasons others have mentioned but mostly due to the fact that the patrons seem more interested in having a social experience than seeing a show and appreciating it, but I may catch this. I haven't seen Les Mis in awhile.

I saw West Side Story there last year and I had a very good experience. That was actually my first time to Wolf Trap. I don't think I'll be going out for Les Miz though.

I've never seen a show there, but I've been to a couple of NSO concerts and never had any major problems.

I also think the local teen ensembles help fill seats with friends and family members. If each teen has 5-10 friends that come out to see them in the show, that adds up to a lot of ticket sales, as well as local news buzz about their teens being in the cast. I'll be there on Sunday at West Point to see the show. Break a Leg!

It is good for Wolf Trap to provide access to see these shows to those people who would not make the effort to go to a regular touring house like National or a regional house (perhaps even more so).

Perhaps I have had bad luck with my audiences, with a few exceptions.
