She would be AMAZING in that role. I'm glad someone else appreciates her and agrees that she NEEDS to get to BROADWAY and SOON!

Oh, I hate when tours don't come near me - and my tours I only mean Les Mis.

Sad about Benoit - I live for Thénardier!

Well, since I saw the show I've listened to Tonya's I Dreamed a Dream from the Café Les Mis, and she has grown on me a little more. I don't think anyone can deny that she sings with incredible power. The first night I saw the show and she sang he took my childhood in his stride ... O_O;; My sister and I looked at each other and our jaws dropped. The sound she made was so incredibly deep, resonating, powerful, and magnificent -- my heart skipped a beat and shivers ran down my spine.

So, yes, I do think she has an amazing voice. I just wasn't overly fond of her interpretation of Fantine (Ruthie Henshall is my all time favorite). I can only imagine what she'd be like in Lion King.

Well I'm a nerd and went to go see Les Mis again tonight :) I actually got to see Eponines understudy this time. Marissa McGowan went on for Melissa Lyons and I really enjoyed Marissas portraial of Eponine. After she sung On My Own the applause went on for quite a while. But my favorite is still Tonya Dixon - her voice keeps growing on me and I agree that she needs to be on broadway ASAP.

Whats the link to that Cafe Les Mis?

I'm glad there are more people out there who love Tonya. She needs to get to Broadway... Anyway, the link to download her singing "I Dreamed a Dream" and other little clips from the show is here: http://lesmis.cafemusain.com/cast/dixon.html

I saw les mis this afternoon, and the cast is phenominal. There is no weak link in the cast. The only person out was the girl who plays Eponine, but Marissa McGowan was an awesome Eponine. And Randal Kieth and Adam Jacobs (Marius) were other standouts. This tour is in perfect shape. I can not tell you how talented this cast is. If this tour stops in your city, you should definitley see it.

hey all,

this is a pretty cool blog site, seeing as how i am a huge
fan of musicals!! you guys mentioned something about student
rush tickets being $25? and you were able to get good
seats too? how did you manage to get hooked up with those?
did you go about a half hour before curtain and ask explicitly for "student rush tickets"? because i'm a student and i went last time about a half hour before the show started on a wednesday too (so it shouldn't have been terribly busy) and said that i had heard that i could get discounted tickets since it was so close to show time. but the guy told me that my ticket (6th row orchestra) was still $77 regardless of if i bought em then or 5 minutes after show time. hmm...i'm beginning to think
that i was jipped. help me out cause i'm interested in
going to see les miz again but don't have the funds to
pay another $77. thanks in advance!

I walked up to the box office the day I saw the show, about 30 minutes before curtain. I asked for the cheapest ticket, which was about $45, and then I said do you have any student rush seats? And the woman asked if I was a student, I said yes, showed her my ID, and she gave me a ticket for $25. I asked where the seat was and she said I should wait to be surprised. Alas, 3rd row, right on the aisle.

Good luck!!

I saw this cast in Vancouver in November. (I had a large thread called "Interview with Randal Keith - does anyone care?" or something, with interview and review snippets.) I thought Randal Keith and Tonya Dixon were the strongest links in an already strong cast. I wasn't very impressed with the Marius, Cosette or Eponine though. I don't think Cosette's a very fleshed out role, so it may not have been the actress's fault, but I found it hard to sympathize with Eponine. I thought she seemed to immature, childish and I didn't believe she and Marius had any chemistry.

It was my first time seeing the show though, and now it's one of my favorites!

Hanna2, could you try using caps where appropriate next time you post? I found your reply very hard to read.

I wish I could see this tour! I just checked the dates and realized that it came within a few hours of my town in January! But I missed it! Very disappointing, since I love the music and have been wanting to see it for what seems like forever. I would go see it in Chicago, but I'm already going to see Wicked there this summer. Is there any chance it will go to more cities after the tour is over?

DG23, what do you mean "this tour"? There's only one, and will be only one for the forseeable future. And they've already booked new dates for '06:

What do you mean 2006? That's all 2005

I really wanted to see Jennifer Butt. It is her line (and the way she said it) that got me into theatre!

Read it a little closer, or refresh after emptying your cache. Leslie has added dates on her site up until May 21, 2006.

"DG23, what do you mean "this tour"? There's only one, and will be only one for the forseeable future."

I think he means "I want to see this tour" as opposed to, say, the Mamma Mia! tour or the Chicago tour...just a matter of speaking, not specifying a particular Les Mis tour. Otherwise he could mean he wanted to see "this tour" as in this new cast, versus the cast that toured prior to October. Or maybe I'm just over-analyzing this. Les Miz in Chicago

I saw the tour about a year and a half ago in Atlanta. I believe that I am the only one that didn't care for Tonya Dixon. Maybe she was having an off night or something. Then again, I saw it twice. Maybe she has improved over time. But it's great that so many people like her and I hope to see her again. Randal Keith is AMAZING! Love him. My favorite was probably Ma-anne Dionisio (sp?) who was playing Eponine at the time. She was great.

I caught Les Miz when I was in Chicago on business last weekend. Understudies were on for Thenardier, Javert, and Fantine. I was most impressed with Fantine, Eponine, and Javert. It was a great production though I thought Thenardier and Marius were really weak.

I also saw "I Love you, You're Perfect, Now Change" and was kicking myself for going to see that show instead of Falsettos. I don't know what I was thinking. Its a cute show, but slightly cheesy. I didn't appreciate the audience either- filled with middle-aged women who had too much to drink. I wanted to see why this was such a hit in the Off-Broadway scene in NY, but I was disappointed because it was filled with one liners, a thin book, and only serviceable vocal talent.
