Leslie Caron sings in 'Gigi' on Youtube

Just added three clips with Leslie Caron's own voice from "Gigi" (she was dubbed by Betty Wand in the released film).

I think she sounds great - especially in "I Don't Understand the Parisians."

Thanks Mark! Now, see I totally think this is a case where they should have used her original voice. Her performance is filled with a personality, a wit and a charm that Betty Wand couldn't match. Gigi didn't *need* to have a great voice!

While I would agree that her voice would do just fine, I think her performance with the combination of Betty Wand's voice is still superior.

Thanks marknyc for doing this! I was hoping you would get around to it. I agree with Michael Bennett that Caron's real voice could have been used but in those days everything had to come off polished.

Leslie Caron was a remarkably beautiful and talented actress and dancer. Gigi is one of my favorite movie musicals. Her singing is a bit thin, but with what they can do for a voice in this day and age, she wouldn't have needed someone to dub it for her.

If they let Pierce Bronsan sing in Mama Mia and he can't carry a tune! Different times, I suppose.
