okay im not sure if im making myself very clear....i know ive been sticking up for lestat alot but its mostly the music im backing up....i agree with anyone who says the story needs some work. They try to cram way to much in to one show....and they spend to much time on unrealted subjects and not enough time on the bigger issues....i just wanted to make myself clear.....i thought the cast was great with the acting and the music.

I agree with you. I'm still rootin' for this show to work. IMO, the biggest priority right now is to tweak the book, and the direction comes in second. It's suppose to be Lestat's POV, but Lestat's voice as an author of this autobiography is not coming across effectively. Most of the music is fine...Elton just needs to write a showstopper for Lestat to belt out his anthem. And as fast as Elton writes songs, I think he can pull this off easily. LOL! :)

We are to see it the end of March. Hopefully it will still be around - assuming it makes it out of San Fran
i couldnt have said it better myself....it really does need a big song....i mean i guess right now it would be the crimson kiss but there needs to be a little bit more going on on the stage....it needs something like wickeds "defying gravity" or phantoms "Phantom of the opera"
In adapting a novel for the stage you have to forget a little bit about what the fans of the novel are going to think, and instead you have to re-conceive the story for a completely different medium. I don't know if Anne Rice has cooperated very much but the creative team need to understand this is now a stage musical, no longer a novel. This is what the most successful adaptation have done. Wicked even re-conceived the whole novel making the story about Glinda and Elphaba instead of Elphaba herself (no matter how mediocre the book is, they successfully created a stage show that's still selling out). If Lestat wants to succeed they might have to be unfaithful to the novel. If it's a well-done job, people will appreciate it better than if they stay faithful to the novel but end up with a poor show.
