I went to see Lestat on Wednesday, Tarzan on Thursday, and Drowsy Chaperone for today's matinee. I can honestly say that I enjoyed all three of them.
Lestat (4/12-8PM):
The show was good and the house was probably at 80-90% capacity. I had 5th row orchestra tickets and went with my friend who is a huge Anne Rice fan. I went in unfamiliar with the storyline, and was entertained. The beginning was a little slow, but once Lestat got bitten, the show began to pick up. I found the second act to be much better than the first. Hugh does a great job as Lestat and Allison Fischer is amazing as Claudia. "I Want More" was a major highlight for me. Although I am unfamiliar with the material, Jim Stanek and Drew Sarich seemed a little miscast. Overall, it was an enjoyable night at theater....the show was good, but not great. A major plus was how gracious the cast was to sign autographs and take pictures.
Tarzan (4/13-8 PM):
The show was very enjoyable and was obviously sold out. The technical aspects of this show make it a pleasure to watch, especially the first scene. Great performances given by the entire cast. The new songs seem to fit in to the plot nicely. I got on line for rush at 11 AM, and although a long wait, the 7 hours was worth it for my front row cenetr seat. The conductor seemed to be very nice and was very friendly in talking with audiences. I had already stagedoored the show during previews and the cast is very ncie and signs and takes pics with everyone. All in all, it is a typical Disney show, and does not fail to keep the audience enthused.
The Drowsy Chaperone (4/15-2 PM)
I won the lotto and had front row center seats. The show was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed it. The house seemed to be nearly sold out and the audience seemed to enjoy the show. The whole cast was amazing, with a huge standout being Bob Matin. Unfortunately I did not get to stagedoor for this show because I went to Three Days of Rain's stage door, only to be refused a spot against the barricades. Overall, the show was adorable and seems like it would appeal to every theatergoer...I strongly recommend it.
**Three Days of Rain Stage Door Note- they now reserve spots against the barricades for the people who are seeing the show at that performance. While I think this is fair, I do not think it is fair that this policy was not in efefct when I went to see the show. When I explained my scenario to the security guard and showed him my ticket stub from the performace I was at (April 1st), he rudely replied by saying "Well, buy another ticket to see it again." Not everybody has the money to afford another ticket, especially to three Days of Rain, which I was amazingly underwhelmed by already. The security guy was just a major a--hole.**

Posted: 4/15/06 at 8:52pmI really didn't expect to enjoy Tarzan at all, i was dreading seeing it in fact (in a group, unfortunetly, sacrifices have to be made). But i was proven totally wrong. It's so good, especially techinically. Plus the cast is all so kind at the stagedoor.
