Usually how long does it take for them to respond? I've sent some and gotten some back quickly but some others nothing... Didn't know if I should just give up hope...

the fastest i got a response was a few hours, by email of course.
But the fastest response i got by snail mail was a little over a week from harvey fierstein. The slowest was from sutton foster....i forgot about the whole letter and when i got a picture back i was so excited.
it really depends how busy the actor is. And other times the actors just wont respond.

I just got a signed playbill from Joel Gray. I didn't think I'd get anything from him since he is out but I did.
And here it is

Now, there's a mature response. Joel Gray is a Broadway veteran and certainly has other things to do with his time. It's nice that he answered this fan, and it has nothing to do with the fact that he's old.
Ah, youth! We all think age will never creep up on us and then one day it does and we discover that people older than 25 actually have intelligence, opinions, sex appeal, physical stamina and a LIFE.

SamIam I totally agree. I was very excited that I heard back from him. I wrote to him only a few days before I found out he was out on medical leave. So, you can guess that I suspected not to hear back from him. I'm sure he is a very busy man but he took the time to send me a playbill, which I am very greatful of. He is a wonderful actor!! How can you not love the man?

I mailed a letter to Adam Pascal today. You guys should've seen me... I was writing it last night, and trembling. I started shaking again when I went to put it in the mailbox. I didn't send an SASE... I don't really want anything back, but I was still SO nervous. I've got to be the world's biggest dork.
