Has any one met or seen him in a show? I saw him on DVD in The Man Who Came to Dinner, A Funny Thing Happened on the way to the Forum, and many other things! Was he good in The Producers? Is he going to be in any new shows soon? He's AWESOME!
Thanks!

Quite a bit of presence with a decent voice, but Don Stephenson (the Leo Bloom at the time) outshone him, when I think it should be fairly equal.

Posted: 7/7/06 at 4:58pmIn addition to PRODUCERS, I saw Lewis Stadlen in the Chelsea CANDIDE revival (he was brilliant), as Nathan in GUYS AND DOLLS with Lorna Luft as Adelaide, and as Trigorin opposite Anita Gillette as Arkadina in a surprisingly wonderful production of THE SEAGULL in Cleveland. He is a quiet talented and versatile actor and one of the last farceurs left.

Posted: 7/7/06 at 6:20pmI saw him as Max about a year and a half ago. I thought his acting was brilliantly funny, but his singing was sub-par (for me). However it didn't take away from the show because Max does not need to be a fantastic singer. I didn't get to meet him, but from what I hear he was a very gracious man.

Our actor friend took us backstage when he was in The Producers. He (Stadlen) was having back problems so my friend took my Minnies Boys playbill & got him to sign it
We loved his Max

I don't understand! Nathan Lane, Richard Dreyfuss, and Lewis had back problems after playing Max! How?

About the Marx brothers & how they formed & their real mother Minnie played by Shelly Winters. Totie Fields was considered but Groucho nixed her as being too Jewish -Huh ?
The actors who played the other brothers were never heard from again except Daniel Fortis ( who played Harpo ) was in Molly ( musical of The Goldbergs). He has a great song in Minnies Boys " Mama A Rainbow" Harpo's love song to his mother

Strange piece of casting. But he's a brilliant actor and I'd like to see what he can do with the part.

And of course, he was on BENSON for a season or two.
His voice was much stronger when he was young. Listen to his rendition of "My Love" on the 1975 CANDIDE CD (just released).

The sinister detective Tupolski needs a darkly comic touch. I imagine he will be excellent!
