It's another Wicked question. (back off bashers)
But, does anyone know where I can find the Wicked San Fransisco libretto? Or does anyone have a copy? I have the broadway libretto, and I'm curious as to all the changes and such, so instead of asking and busting my ass looking in numerous threads, I'll read it myself.
Help, please? I'd appreciate it.

The libretto is techincaly the book (script) and the vocal score in one volume. With the vocal score following the book.

Libretto is normally used as an opera term for all words, spoken and sung. Most operas have one librettist.
in musical theatre you can say the book and lyrics combined make a libretto, but since the bookwriter and lyricist are often different people you don't hear the term as often.

Posted: 1/8/05 at 2:13amI think libretto is used in a musical when something includes both the script and the lyrics, which is always. I never call it a "script" because (to me, anyways) that only constitutes the scenes. Even when you get material from places like MTI, they are labeled as libretti. (plural of libretto)

dry2olives, you are correct. I am a co-librettist of an opera.
