same here, even though i had seen the show already, i forgot. lol.
I always thought, and even in the movie continued to think, that when he tucked it in his back pocket..and put her candle out, fell on the couch and started just inanely talking about Spike Lee..that he was nervous and trying to keep the stash from her, and hadn't fooled her a bit. She fouled him all up, with her overt sexuality and asking him to dance, and in getting him to get up again gave her the opportunity to grab what she figured he had, her stash. Then she flaunted the fact that she had outsmarted him by shaking it in his face. Seemed fairly straightforward to me.

I've always thought that, with all three Rogers I've seen live + the way it was staged in the movie.
He likes her, and he's starting to look out for her.
This is a really great thread! I have always wondered about this. I agree with most people above, I think he doesn't want her to use anymore, so he is taking it.

An ex of mine is in recovery. (very complicaated person, lol.) He is quite Roger like, and he would DEFINITELY hide drugs, from anyone if he saw they were using, no matter how well, they knew each other. It is just natural to want to protect someone, even if you know it probably will not really help that much. Also, he sees her as quite young, so there is protecting the young too.

>>I think, orangeskittles, what you said about the "reminding him of April" works, especially in the show, more so than the movie. I mean, Mark even says that Roger found the note from April, after she had already killed herself (at least that's my interpretation). So Roger probably blames himself for not being there for her, hence all of his protectiveness over Mimi with the drug dealer.
Plus...he obviously likes her despite not knowing what to do initially, and despite her habit. Any good boyfriend is protective of his girl, especially if she has problems that could kill her!
I still have a question about the end of Out Tonight. Why does she shake the stash in front of Roger at the end if she already knows he doesn't like her doing those stuff? Is she just teasing him or offering him some?
Cause she outsmarted him and got the stash back in spite of his efforts to keep it from her.
But she did that already at the end of Light My Candle, why do it again at the end of Out Tonight? It just seemed redundant in my opinion.
I agree, it was redundant. I kinda thought it was a directorial choice to get Roger angry to further motivate throwing her out. . .and maybe Mimi was trying to keep him from taking it from her again? I dunno :)
You're right, got confused there (it's late for me). I don't remember her exactly flaunting the stash in OT like she did in LMC. I do remember that she pulled it out of her pocket or whatever, not a good move considering he's given her strong hints that he isn't into that anymore. Like Roger says, "she doesn't see"... she's confused as hell...which Rosario displays excellently I must add.
Oh don't get me started about how flawless Rosario is in that movie, I'm gay and my boyfriend got a little freaked out when I told him I was kinda turned on during Out Tonight...anyways, back on topic. I guess it makes sense that she shakes the little bag and that makes Roger angrier for Another Day. What I don't get is that she's asking him out and he has made it so clear he doesn't like her doing drugs let alone do it himself, so why would she do that right before kissing him? Maybe she was already high or something; perhaps Columbus included this to justify the lyrics in Another Day "take your powder," and "take your needle." I don't know, every time I see the movie I get confused in that scene.
I don't mind the direction on that part of the scene; it's the putting her out before the last "the door is that way" and the sappiness of Mark, Collins and Angel coming out of the blue to sing with her that bugs me, but I hear ya.
I didn't mind him putting her out before the last "door is that way," and I really liked Mark, Collins, and Angel coming to sing with her :)
She waves the stash in front of him because she doesnt really know about his past (the whole April thing/why he took it away during LMC) so she thinks that he'd be fine doin it tonight and that maybe he was only taking it away to flirt w/her some more during LMC..

Ray and Allthatjazz ... I'm gay, too, had the same reaction... my boyfriend punched me in the arm!
I think maybe because I think Adam Pascal looked so rediculous with that hair...please no barrage of Pascal fan hate mail ok? I love him, want him, need him just like the rest of you, I just hate his hair in the movie...
I love his hair either way.
"I love him, want him, need him" That's my motto these days.
ARGH! Why does he have to be married???
I thought his hair was right for the movie and he looked great...
But back on topic. I think Mimi doesn't get that Roger is now anti-drugs and is trying to further tempt him with hers at the end of OT. Of course it has the opposite effect.
