What is this amazing woman up to these days? When is she going to come back in a full show? Her last was "The Life" - right?

She's done several things since THe Life, mostly off Broadway and regional. She was in the La production of Cy COleman's jass show. She's also great in the movie "Pieces of April". And she sings the Sh** out of Aquarius on the new Hair cd.

I am a big Lilias White fan ( I saw her in 'Dreamgirls' in LA when she went on for Jennifer Holliday) but her last two appearances left me a little bewildered. She opened the 'There's Nothing Like A Dame' benefit concert and muffed a few lyrics and at the Carnegie Hall 'South Pacific' concert she was Bloody Mary and, again, messed up a lyric. Maybe she just doesn't like Oscar Hammerstein II. She was magnificent, however, at the Cy Coleman tribute a few years back.

In early April, she was in Encores "Purlie" in NYC.

I should have saod, her last full tun, not "in-concert" I wonder if there is a reason why she dose only concerts now

Her last full Broadway run, yes. But she's done several high profile off-Broadway and regional shows since then that had full runs.

"Dinah Was"

No one comes closer in emulating Dinah Washington than Lillias White - two of my all-time favorie vocalists.

Saw the Purlie concert and she was phenominal! She took the only song in the score I dont really like "He Can Do It" a duet w/ Anika Noni Rose, and they ripped it up and brought the house down. I wish she had done it in the supposed bway bound cast at the Pasadena Playhouse, but Loretta Devine got good reviews too.
Dont worry, she'll be back soon in something!

I wish there was a woman her age in The Color Purple.
