One of my friends told me that the Lincoln Center has a Broadway video archive where they let you watch/listen professional audio and video of Broadway shows. Is this true?

It's the New York Public Library at Lincoln Center. The Theater on Film and Tape

Yes, the Public Library of the Performing Arts has videos of Broadway productions, but they will ask you for a reason why you want to watch one.

and you have to make an appointment.... as there are only so many TV sets available...
and some are only viewed with permission of the creators... I find this is espeically true with choreographers that are trying to protect their work from being copied...
If you go into Lincoln Center, just flash them an Education ID then they won't ask you any questions. My boyfriend jsut went the other day and he didn't have to have appointment.
i think they advise appointments, but they do accept walk-ins if sets are available. i've never seen it full. You apply for a pass, usually, then fill out a form for specific tapes. Or maybe that's just for us out-of-staters.
