The production that was done back in 1990 ( you can see some of it on that site that should not be named ) was it recorded for T.V., if so was it ever put up for sale and also was there every a cast recording released?
I looked up on IBDB but they don't have it listed.

It wasn't a Broadway production. It was done by the New York City Opera.
It was a one time TV airing.
I'm watching it on Saturday.
Thank you so much.
I take it then that it was never released as a CD?

It was broadcast on PBS' "Live from Lincoln Center".
It has never been available for sale (legally) and it never will be. It will never be broadcast again. The agreement with Lincoln Center is that it can only be broadcast a few times within a year of the original broadcast, and will never be sold commercially. That is why you will never see it or CONTACT, LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA, the Helen Hunt/Kyra Sedgewick TWELFTH NIGHT, or any other "Live from Lincoln Center" show on DVD.
See that sucks for us poor souls who are not in the United States as this would be the only way for some of us to see these productions.
It's pity that a one night only broadcast for other areas of the world are not allowed as well
My dad and I were in the audience the night it was taped -- very exciting for me, 15 years old and Sondheim-struck. Though I remember thinking even then that some of the cast were a bit stiff, at least compared with the original cast album.
