Not that this necessarily mitigates anything, but I know that performers for many Republican fundraisers in Texas were paid - to them it was only a job. Perhaps this is a similar situation; although, I can't quite see being able to totally dissociate from the activities or reputations present.

i personaly think her beliefs is her business and should not stand in the way of her fans. she is talented and thats all the matters..democrat or republican who cares.

I agree.

It would be nice to have her be a Republican, but it could just be a job. Tons of performers are Democrats anyway, I'm used to it. :)

Peter,

There is a difference in being a fan of hers, and idolizing her. If she were an idol, then I can see how her views may affect you. However, if you are a fan of hers, then it should have no affect, for you DO enjoy her music, whether she is a democrat, republican, or other.

She's not obligated to believe in something because it affects or doesn't affect her fans. And her fans are not obligated to continue being her fans if her beliefs affect how they feel about her. It's still a free country.

This might sound really horrible and come out wrong, but if anyone's opinion of a performer changes JUST because they perform ONE gig for the other political party (Republican or not), they don't deserve fans like you anyway.

They aren't up there to be politicians, they're up there to sing and perform. Has Linda Eder ever stood on a platform, bashed Democrats, and promoted Bush? Enlighten me if she did that, you'd have right to be upset.

But because she would have done a gig? (Even though she isn't anymore.) Please.

I'm a Republican, and just because an actor has different political views doesn't make me despise their acting or singing any less. I think that it's narrow minded to think like that, and yes, I have a right to say that because I would never 'be disappointed' that an actor is a Democrat. Well Papa is an admitted Republican but quite a few Democrats here have a very high opinion of him. What about the log cabin republicans? Do you hold a lower opinion of them because they are Republicans? This logic does not make sense to me.

Actually, I do. Just like Christmas Eve, I think they're a bunch of spineless good-for-nothings that spend most of their time defending the anti-gay actions of their party (sorry to all the gay Republicans out there, but I mean, don't you just spend the day hating yourselves? ).

When the right rips an actor (Tim Robbins, Sarandon, et als) for taking an anti-war stand, the left says, "leave them alone, it is their private opinion and has nothing to do with their acting". Yet, when Linda Eder might indicate a Republican leaning, we are against that?

Regardless of our side of the fence, policitically, sexually, whatever, let's keep it equal.

Linda's political standing is no more our business than is that of any actor, singer, entertainer or person.

It should not effect our feeling toward their craft...they are still the same actor or performer.
