re: Linda Eder Christmas at the Palace

I'm still mad ad Linda Eder for not coming to Chicago this year. Her Christmas show here last year was outstanding - especially considering the fact that her band was snowed-in in NYC, and she had to use a back-up band from Chicago that only had about 1/2 day to rehearse.

She'll be here just before Valentines Day, so I'll forgive her pretty soon!

The Chicago concert last year was very similar to the PBS show and the DVD that she released this year. Her voice is flawless, but she's not known for entertaining the crowd in between songs. I actually think she's very uncomfortable in front of an audience. She has perhaps one of the best voices that I ever heard.

Anyone knows what Eder sang?
Rosencrantz: "Be happy - if you're not even HAPPY what's so good about surviving? We'll be all right. I suppose we just go on." - from Tom Stoppard's Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead

When I saw Linda in Las Vegas December 4, she talked about how she still gets nervous for every show. She seemed completely comfortable to me though. She has the best sense of humor, very witty. She kept making jokes between songs.

I wish I could have gone but I work for pennies on the dollar for an airline I had to save it for Christmas.

But I hear she was phenominal. I loved her when she did the Christmas Concert in 2001.

She is my favorite. I love her. (I bet no one knew that)

re: Linda Eder Christmas at the Palace

The concert was excellent. It was the best, if not one of the best performances I've seen her give. Her voice was in great form and she has continued to grow and develop as a song interpreter, showing lots of connection to lyric and emotion. She sang two brand new songs written for her (by not by Frank) some standards she's never sung before, and of course songs from her Christmas CD. I honestly believe her take on "What are you doing the rest of your life" really shows how much she's grown. Her Variety review of the Palace concert put her in the league of Garland and Streisand (its under the Camille Claudel thread) and I've read a few of her other reviews of this concert across the country that have also been raves. The Dave Clemmons choir joined her in the second act and were a perfect compliment to her. Her newly added songs (in addition to "What are you doing the rest of your life") were: a medley of "The Best is Yet to Come"/"The Man I Love"/"Just in time", "If I Could" and the brand new songs "You're the One" and "Lifted." She also sang (and acted out) "Whats Never Been Done Before" from Camille Claudel, and this got one of the loudest ovations of the night, although there were several standing ovations.
