I just came back from the show at Bryant Park and was P.O.ed that Linda Eder did not how up. To be fair, I don't know why or if they announced it because I showed up a little late but...

Carolee Carmello sang Linda's Don't Rain on My Parade and was amazing. And Linda was also to sing (according to the program), Anthem from Chess.

Does anyone know why she did not show up? What happened?

Brian Stokes Mitchell was amazing, as was Liz Callaway. Tom Wopat should pack it in and Raul Esparza was great too, singing What You'd Call a Dream from Diamonds.

Anyone else go?

That's weird...Linda would have to have a really good reason not to show up for something. I'll bet it had something to do with her children.

Her billing was printed in the program and of course in the ads but I have no idea if an announcement was made that she would not perform.

According to Linda Eder's website, she has a chest cold. (posted on ATC board)

Yeah, Carolee said it was something very last minute... she has never sung that song before... that woman is INCREDIBLE! What a class act... she gave me shivers.

She and BSM were the highlights of the evening, but Carolee was definitely the most PLEASANT of surprises!!! (And she is definitely the sweetest woman on the planet.)

I had the opportunity of "standing in" for Patrick Quinn last night, making all the announcements and introductions at the dress rehearsal. Since I was busy this evening with Mandy's show, I was so happy to be able to see all the performances. Raul continues to amaze me- he sang the song from Diamonds beautifully and rocked out on Simple Joys from PIPPIN. Carolee Carmello-I can't even take this woman!!! She ran the last part of Don't Rain... 3 or 4 times, not once marking...each time full out (as they were fixing some timing things with the orchestra)...She is SO off the hook and I can't wait for her next appearance. Stokes, as always, has a warmth to his voice like no other...who else? Liz Callaway...My LORD I don't know how she can improve from where she was before, but she continually does. Jed Bernstein, Paige Price and all the others involved in making the concert happen should be very proud of this incredible commercial for Broadway.
