Well, the Mexico City production is selling tickets up to April 27 and Danna could come in late May. So, if Lindsay is leaving, then this Elphaba is most likely a filler.
Jackie Burns had the longest Elphaba conttract on Broadway, from September 2011-February 2013. Idina is the second longest, then Shoshana. I have also heard rumors about Danna Paola and think that would be fantastic.
Really? Hopefully it's for a limited engagement until Danna or someone else is available. She blew her voice out in her last Wicked run and hasn't sounded the same since. Her vocal quality as of late has me on the edge hoping that she doesn't crack or hurt herself.
She was also rumored to be the 10th anniversary Elphaba which was false, so this may be another false rumor.
I remember on one of the earlier boards, someone said Emma Hunton is going to be Elphaba on one of the national tours and is most likely to replace Alison Luff so odds are she will be the next Broadway Elphaba.
Alison has been on the tour for about 7 months now, and again the Elphaba and Glinda tour contracts seem to be about 9 months. So all that Emma joining the tour means is that Alison's contract is almost up. Although I would LOVE to see her move to Broadway.
Emma Hunton is joining the 2NT in Fevruary or March, so she'd be replacing Jenn DiNoia. DiNoia has done several short stints in the broadway company, so she could be another "in between" before a more known name joins.
(For what it's worth, I saw DiNoia earlier this year as part of subscription series and her Elphaba was very nicely done.)
Does anyone know her exact depature date? I have been dying to see her as Elphaba and haven't gotten the chance, so I want to head to the Gershwin before she leaves.
I asked at box office last night and they had no clue. Almost waited after show to ask Lindsay herself but thought that might not be a good approach. Anybody know yet? I've seen dates printed so I am surprised they are not saying anything....UNLESS it is someone like Eden coming back and they are holding off as long as they can....
By dates printed, I mean that on various ticket sites and cast lists I have seen January 19th or Jan 24th for new Elphaba.
I am not here to start or perpetuate any rumors, just asking because my 14 year old daughter wants to see Lindsay do the role again before she leaves. I would get her the tickets as a birthday present but I don't want to buy them and find out Lindsay is out of it. Daughter does not want to go before her school's class finals (last week of Jan) so I want to know if we have the time to wait until February to see the show.
