The cast of RAGTIME did a shortened version of the opening number.

LION KING did their opening "Circle of Life" with the animals parading down the aisles of Radio City Music Hall.

From SIDE SHOW (which had long since closed) the leading ladies performed "I Will never Leave You."

Also on the 1998 broadcast were "Willkommen" from the revival of CABARET, "Sit Down John" from the revival of 1776, and a medley from the revival of SOUND OF MUSIC.

I wish TonyAwards.org would offer DVD's of past brodcasts. I have been taping them every year since i first got a VCR (1979) and really enjoy going back and watching the numbers.

Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!

I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com

I have a tape I haven't watched in years. IIRC, didn't Emily Skinner flub the opening dialogue to I Will Never Leave You?
