Sorry if this is a bit O.T. but it is important...below is the press release for this event. If anyone would like to pledge to their local AIDS Task Force/Organization, please do so in the name of The Lion King National Tour - Columbus. Please PM me with your pledge amount and I will announce this Monday night that donations are being made throughout the nation on behalf of The Lion Sings Tonight!

Our goal is to raise at least $4000!
Thank you everyone. VJR.

COMPANY MEMBERS OF Disney’s THE LION KING PRESENT A ONE-NIGHT ONLY CABARET PERFORMANCE TO BENEFIT THE COLUMBUS AIDS TASK FORCE
Monday, June 21 9:00 p.m. , Axis Nightclub, 775 North High Street
Cast and crew members of Disney’s THE LION KING, which is playing Columbus’ Ohio Theatre now through July 11 as part of Fifth Third Bank Broadway in Columbus’ 2003-2004 Season, will host The Lion Sings Tonight—a cabaret-style show benefiting the Columbus AIDS Task Force (CATF) and Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS (BC/EFA). One show only will be performed at Axis Nightclub, located at 775 North High Street, on Monday, June 21 at 900 p.m. General admission at the door is $10.
Proceeds from the benefit are shared by the local organization, CATF, and the National organization, BC/EFA. Laurie Pomerson, Senior Director of Marketing for Fifth Third Bank Broadway In Columbus, is delighted for the opportunity to once again partner with many local volunteers on such a noble and fun project. “We are pleased to welcome the cast and crew of THE LION KING to Columbus and very excited that they will take time from their busy performance schedule to help us bring attention to and raise money for CATF and BC/EFA.”
The Lion Sings Tonight will feature cast and crew members in a generous mix of Rock and Roll, Pop, and R&B numbers. The performance will begin at 9:00 p.m. The benefit is being produced with the assistance and generosity of Axis Nightclub, Fifth Third Bank Broadway In Columbus, and CATF. Table reservations for four are available for $50 at Union Station Video Café or www.columbusnightlife.com. General admission is $10 at the door.

I am thinking about forming an all-year BC/EFA club at my high school. We would do different fundraisers, cabaret shows, etc. and donate all proceeds to the organization.

BT11 - that's a wonderful idea! You could keep it local too, if there's an organization or a local hospital with an HIV/AIDS unit near you. People may be more willing to give if it stays local.

BTW - The grand tally for funds raised by THE LION KING company at the theatre last week and this benefit event is over $14,000!!!!!!!!!!

Having attended the event Monday night in Columbus, Ohio, I have to say what an incredible event for two amazing organizations. The cast and crew of the tour gave such a special gift to all of us, sharing their amazing talents while helping those who truly need it!

I tell ya, Columbus is a hidden gem!!!

And this is just one of those many events that show the heart here!

Congratulations Broadway in Columbus, The national touring cast of The Lion King, and the Roy G. Biv Corp. for their organization of this event!
