Which one would you recommend seeing? I have seen neither, how is the cast of Lion King these days?

Lion King...it's a classic. I still go see it every so often. The cast is great right now. I love Patrick Page! Mary Poppins is great, but Lion King is just a very different experience. Very moving! :)

Jack: For your information, most people who meet me do not know that I am gay. Will: Jack, blind and deaf people know you're gay. Dead people know you're gay. Jack: Grace, when you first met me, did you know I was gay? Grace: My dog knew.

Probably Mary Poppins because some of the leads in TLK are just okay. Then again, I haven't seen Poppins yet, but it looks cool.

Mary Poppins. It's not perfect, but at least it has passing resemblances to a book and a score.

Keep in mind that Lion King has been playing 10 years. I don't know if Julie Taymor polices her shows, but I know that the director of Beauty and the Beast doesn't. When I saw it a few years ago, it had turned into a theme park attraction.

Still the staging of The Lion King is truly awesome, and one of the most electrifying theatre experiences I've had. I loved Mary Poppins so much when I saw it in London that I saw it twice! Gavin Lee is amazing as Bert, and the production is exceptional.

The Lion King was tired and boring when I saw it 7 years ago.

Mary Poppins still has the original leads, which I think is always a plus. LK is amazing, but MP at the New Amsterdam is a great site. Great sets in MP.

See Mary Poppins. I've seen both shows, and Mary Poppins is the one I can't resist. (Not saying Lion King is bad, though)

ETA: Both times I've seen the show, I gasped when I saw the house on stage during its first scene. What an amazing sight.

Mary Poppins hands down. I thought the Lion King was dreadfully boring.

And hang on, when did you win the discus?

I've heard that since THE LION KING moved to the Minskoff, it hasn't been as powerful as it was before.

I have seen both (I saw THE LION KING back at the New Amsterdam), and I would recommend MARY POPPINS over LION KING in a heartbeat. The opening number of LION KING is quite amazing, but from that point on, it's a snooze fest. MARY POPPINS is very lively and, as others have said, has been around for a much shorter time, and therefore is completely fresh in every respect.

Don't listen to Mother's Younger Brother. They clearly have bad taste. But it's alright. It's not their fault they are too incompetent to have an electrifying theatrical experience.

I much preferred the London version of MP to Broadway, sadly many of the changes they made when it transferred have now been applied to the London show. But it still gets my vote over Lion King.

Why, hello Margaret! Yes darling, half past five. Well, everyone, simply le tout Park Avenue and la creme de Hyannis! Well, the press table's going to be awfully crowded... but if you don't mind sharing a folding chair with Harper's Bazaar... Sing? Me? Heavens no, it's Edie's day, not mine... Although people can be so insistent, and I hate to disappoint. Twist my arm, blackmail me, threaten my very life, and who knows? You might get a verse of something...

Having never seen "Mary poppins", i would still go with "Mary" over the "Lion King" anyday. The opening 10 minutes is stunning after that the show falls apart into one long very boring waste of time.

Go with "Mary Poppins"

Well I didn't want to get into it, but he's a Satanist. Every full moon he sacrifices 4 puppies to the Dark Lord and smears their blood on his paino. This should help you understand the score for Wicked a little bit more. Tazber's: Reply to Is Stephen Schwartz a Practicing Christian

Mary Poppins

The Lion King is interesting....until the opening number is over. It gets very boring very fast.

Mary Poppins is extremely magical and will amaze you. Go see it!
